move_objects on was for the original Sims and not Sims 2. I've never actually tried to spell it that way in Sims 2 so have no idea if it works.

Make sure if you use the grid cheat you change it back to "true" when you're done (boolprop snapobjectstogrid true), or you'll have a heck of a time placing things.  I find this cheat especially useful for coffee tables.  :cool:
