Recolor CC objects?

How would one go about recoloring objects that were downloaded, or not included with the game?

I have simPE and GIMP...Is there a tutorial somewhere??

I've looked there...I've also tried looking here, but there doesn't seem to be one (Unless I missed it...)

They have one using the wizard, but it doesn't work with CC objects. I've also tried using the Object workshop, but after I've saved it, and try to open it, the object doesn't appear in the resource list/tree.

It's gotta be possible though, because there's so many recolors of custom stuff!
