Game crashes

Hi, I have read the previous threads regarding game crashes, and am not sure if my game crashes due to my graphics card, which was installed on 11 March 2009, or if something else is wrong. The gameplay is fine, but as soon as my adult must age into an elder, the game sounds funny, then informs me that there was an error and the game will now shut down. It has happened in two different houses, I moved them out and back into the house (a maxis house) and put furniture back in. It kept on happening. I went to another house, and succeeded in playing three sim days without any hassles, but when that adult had to age, the same thing happened. In this house the teen did grow into an adult without any problems.

The other thing is that when I move the mouse around the house to get the screen to other parts, it seems as if "picture" flickeres, but not totally off, that for while I move the ouse around. The mouse is quite old, so I tried my son's newer one, the same thing happened.
My harddrive, screencard, cpu and ram was all bought and installed 11 March 2009.
I have a LCD screen 19" wide. What should the resolution be?
If you need more info, please tell me what more you need. I am at my wits end right now.
