A Question About The Sims 2 Folder <SOLVED>

I'm in the process of getting a new computer and I'm trying to figure out what folders I should transfer other than the downloads folder, Saved Sims and Projects. Oh, and my Terrains folder.

I'm going from, Open For Business to Apartment Life. Yes, I'm breaking down and getting every EP.

Out of curiosity, should I just copy them all and let them overwrite whatever is already in the new folders?

If you installed all the games over again, then do something smart - move out the current folders, put them somewhere safe, and then put in all the old ones.
Then you have those new ones just in case things go wrong, or you want to reset your NBhoods, instead of having to reinstall everything, all you have to do is to put in those folders

It's not always a good idea to let them overwrite. Sometimes it doesn't happen properly, and files are forgotten or left out.

I would install ALL the games and EPs. And then back up the entire "The Sims 2" folder in the documents folder.
Then I would transfer the entire "The Sims 2" folder from the old comp. Hopefully, after all that, it'll be like playing on your old comp. (Except faster, nicer, and less waiting, of course!)

By the way, you made the same EP jump I did, OFB to AL.

Overall, since you are moving up to a newer expansion, I would advise against wholesale overwriting of certain folders. For one, the cameras and lighting files were changed with some of the newer expansions, most notably with AL adding lighting information because of ceilings, etc. So do a backup of the stuff I mention in that guide, then delete the folders created when the game runs for the first time and replace them with your backups. As a general rule, it is best to delete then replace, rather than overwrite, and then delete the cache files before running the game again, with the backed up content in place.
