From Pimp My Sims TOU (Reading any creator's TOU is advised before asking anyone to modify/recolour/covert/change them in any way):

No modification or re-use (even in parts) of alpha maps, textures or bump maps

Also, we have stated, before asking for any creator's Sims 2 content to be converted to Sims 3, permission from the original creator must be obtained (reading Stickies is good for you). In light of this, without express permission from PMS/Schnuddl to use this texture for Sims 3, this request may not be fulfilled.

You are, in effect, asking for the texture from the Sims 2 creation be used for TS3. Even though you asked for "a pattern like" it, this will not stop someone from misreading it (either accidentally or intentionally) and using the original texture.
