okay so a while before, sims 3 would crash at the loading screen, then i fixed that problem by deleting the mods folder in my sims 3 file and sims 3 world adventures file. after this the game would crash in CAS whenever i got to hairstyles. now when i click on the play button from the launcher it gives me this messge: unabled to start game. device 0 cannot run this title. no supported video graphics card detected. please check system hardware

how would i fix this? or download a new graphic card? thanks in advance
also i have no custom content... i dont know if that makes a difference?

BlooM:
try the latest patch:
http://games.softpedia.com/get/Patch/The-Sims-3-Patch.shtml
Or use the game updater.

If it still doesn't run you still might have the old resource.cfg installed(wich you installed after installing the mods/packages folder?)
http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_Sims_3_Package_Files
Its a bit confusing but its all there to fix your issues.

okay thank you...im reinstalling it to see if that changes anything....i went to run and typed dxdiag to get my information and under display it says: the system is using the generic video driver. please install video driver provided by the hardware manufacturer.

how would i do this? i tried typing it into start/help and support...but no such luck
is this something i need to  buy? like a physical graphic driver? or something else?

BlooM:
Yup, the graphic card in your system(hardware) uses windows default drivers(software).
It needs to be updated.

Go to
-start
-windows update
-on the internet page you can have 2 options, either automaticly or adjust(or adjusted or specified, not sure as i have a dutch version)
-choose the 2nd option(adjust/specified)
-you might need to agree with installing a activeX (top browser bar, its save to agree.)
-windows will search your computer(takes a while)
-it will come up with alot of stuff
-look if there is a hardware option
-if there is click it
-if windows can identify(recognize) your card it will display the correct software(drivers)
-install them(all goes auto)

When you dont find drivers on the windows update page.....
-Reboot your computer
-when it reboots and the first line of text apears on your screen you hit your pauze button on your keyboard(you have to be quick :) )
-write down the very first line(maybe the first 2), that is your graphic card
-hit enter and continue booting
-the information you wrote contains Model/make and type of your card.
-Either google it or post it here(and ill lookup the correct drivers)
-Best is to go directly to the Manufacturer's home page for the latest drivers.
-when you absolutly sure you found the correct ones, download and install them,
-good luck ;)
