CAS Help

Before I bought any EP's, I was able to use custom CAS for base. I know where to place them and I make sure that I get the required meshes for them. Since then I never messed with the CAS. Now there are two different directories for Sims 2, base and watever EP. I placed the CAS file in the Global Lots or Downloads and backed up the original, but the only notable difference is Windkeeper's invisible_object mod and just the brick wall. Can you tell me the correct way to have custom CAS appear?
