~Alone~

I tried really hard to put all the ideas in my head aside and go on with my day but it was just too hard. I paced back and forth in front of the phone for a good 20 minutes before I finally decided to pick it up and call the number. It rang 4 times before switching over to a machine. "Hello this is Cindy, I'm not home right now but leave me a message and if I like how it sounds I will call you back." The voice said in a sexy tone.

I hung up the phone immediately. I couldnt believe it. Jake was talking to a call girl. Well actually I'm sure he wasn't just talking to her if there was any talking involved at all. I couldnt believe he had been spending my hard earned money just to get a cheep thrill. I didn't know what to do, I wasn't sure if i should leave my house and just never look back or try to talk to him and see if maybe things could change for us.

I decided to give Shannon a call and see if she had any ideas, although i already knew what she was going to say. The phone rang and Shannon picked up. "Hello" She said cheerfully on the other line. "Hey Shan how was class?" I asked her just trying to make small talk. "Same old same old she said. "Professor Green's lectures almost put me to sleep." She said with a laugh. "So hun how are you feeling? Did Jake come home yet?" Shannon asked. "No not yet but I found out something and I thought I would ask your advice." I said. "Ok shoot." She said. "Well I came home to work on some papers from my kids and while I was looking for a pen in the desk I found a piece of paper with a girls name and number on it. Well I got the nerve to call the number and got an answering machine and the girl sounds like a call girl Shannon. I dont know what to do, I'm about to pack up my stuff and leave." I said trying not to cry. "Well hunny I say pack your bags and get the hell out of there. Leave his keister and never look back. You and that baby do not deserve to be treated like this." She said matter of factly. I knew thats what she was going to tell me to do. "I'm just wondering if maybe if he knew about the baby things would be different. Maybe he would be happy and excited and want to be a part of his child's life. Like the family we should be." I said. I was almost pleading with her to tell me that it was going to all turn out the way I wanted it to. "Melissa I know your smarter than this. Pack your stuff and leave. Let him deal with the huge house payment and everything, just get out while you still can." she said. I knew she was right. We talked for a few more minutes and then hung up the phone.

I went and sat down on the couch to think. I knew what I had to do now I just had to get the nerve. I didn't know where I was going to go, Shannon's apartment was way to small for me to go and stay with her and I didn't want to deal with my mom and dad they would just love to say I told you so and I wasn't ready to deal with that. So I went upstairs to search online to see if I could find anything.

I managed to find a nice 3 ed room house that would fit us perfectly. Rent was a reasonable $625.00 a month and the lady who was renting it was nice enough to meet me out there that afternoon to do the paperwork. So i went out to the garage to find my suit case and I packed up as much of my clothing as possible. Everything else in the house was material and it really didn't matter to me. Jake could have it all, I would rather start fresh without the memories of him.

I got in my car and drove into town. It was easy to find the house it was right on the corner of 1st and Collins St. Mrs. Peters was already at the house when I got there.

"Hello Mrs. Sheldon." She said shaking my hand. "Hello." I said smiling sweetly. "Thank you for doing this so late in the day." I said. "Oh its no problem, you really sounded like you needed to move in as soon as possible." She said. "Now all we have to do is sign the papers. I'll have to run a credit check but I'm sure it will turn out ok, you don't seem to be the type to have any issues." She said. "Nope." I said. "I only have on credit card and I don't use it very often and I always make my payments on time." She smiled and then started to go over all the forms I had to fill out.

After all the paperwork was done and the keys were in my hand we said good bye and she wished me luck and said she would get back with me in a day or 2 to see how things were going. I heard her taxi pull away from the house. I stood there looking out into the very bare living room and for the first time in years I truly felt alone.

Great update!!!! :D

Elven_Song:
This is really great! I can't wait to see her new house when it's finished and how everything turns out! ^^

vita4all:
Interesting plot.  Single parenthood is rough, especially when the father of the child has a short fuse. I look forward in seeing how things work out for her.

I'm trying really hard to get the rest of this story finished. My son was diagnosed with a very life threatening heart condition and is actually having his first surgery today. Please bear with me for just a little longer. I promise I will finish this story.
