I've installed Exp 5, but I'm having problems patching. I keep getting a message that says "Error during update installation. You may need to uninstall and reinstall... yada yada yada" Needless to say I did an uninstall and reinstall and the same message showed up again...any advice what could be causing me to not be able to install this patch and how to resolve it would be greatly appreciated.

Backup you game.
Try uninstall everything Sims 2 and all EXP and SP you have, reinstall and patch.
Then if it work put your backup back in.
