First, you need WinRar or another program to unzip the files you download. Once you download that, you can start unzipping the files into your game. Now this is where you want to put your downloaded files.
1.) Go to the folder EA Games
2.) Click on the Sims 2 folder
3.) Click on the Downloads folder
4.) Put all your downloaded files into the Downloads folder

I hope that helped. Happy downloading but be careful that you don't download too much. You can really slow down your game or crash it with shady mods or too many mods (since they can conflict with others).

If you have anything other than clothes, hair, skins (bodyshop items), you need to go to MTS2 and download CEP to be able to play objects in the game.  In addition you need to enable custom content within the game.  When the game first comes up at the bottom of the screen the default is disable custom content, that would need to be changed to enable custom content.  You may want to also download Clean Installer at MTS2.
