Custom careers are evil IMO.

Looks like it`s a hack conflict. Get and run the hack conflict utility, it can be found on this site http://www.simwardrobe.com
Go to sims2/programs and get Sims 2 Hack Conflict Detection Utility

It`ll show you a list of possible conflicts, so you know what to remove :)

Definitely take a look at that custom career.  If it hadn't been updated for Seasons, which introduced new careers, it may very well be your problem.

I got it and it said 0 possible conflicts detected

Remove the custom career and try if it solved the problem.
