download help

Can someone help? I am trying to download the insimanator and I am putting it in the right folder but theres no foulder to extract could someone talk me through it ?

Hi missm,
Your Download folder can be found: My Documents/EAGames/Sims2/Downloads. If you don't have a downloads folder you will need to create one. Beosboxboy explains the proper way to create this folder here . You can also create your own just make sure that when you type the word Downloads has a capital D.

This is where you put all downloads. There is anther thread which explains how to download files here . You will need a program such as WinRAR to extract the files. The Custom Content Installer that comes with the game will only work for downloaded sims, lots, walls, floor tiles and terrain. All other downloads will need a program such as WinRAR or similar program. You can find WinRAR here . If you need help using WinRAR I have posted a picture tutorial here it is easy peasy.

Also you must "enable" custom content in your game for it to show up. I hope this helps you. Good luck!

As for the InSimenator, it can be found under electronics > miscellaneous in the game.

thanks for the help, I have tried to download it and instead of downloading a a folder to exstract it a white page icon that when you click on says chose a programe for this to run

What program do you use to extract your downloads? Do you use WinRAR? I had this happen when I first began downloading because I didn't have a program to extract the file. Then I installed WinRAR and all worked fine. You can use another similar program if you like, one of the links I posted lists several of them. Without one of these your computer won't be able to extract the file.

When you download something, save it to your desktop. Then you double click on the file and winRAR will open the file and ask where you want to extract it to. You then choose My Documents/EAGames/Sims2/Downloads. Click ok and you are done. I linked a post by me in post #2 above that easily explaind how to do this.
