Ok like an idiot I bought the H and M pack today. I tried to dl and install the seasons patch but it tells me, error has occured you may have to reinstall seasons, and the same thing comes up when i try to install the h and m pack. I don't want to reinstall the seasons! If I do will it erase all my files and saved games and familys? Its too much trouble for a bunch of clothes. Any help?

I think you should try backing up the custom content you downloaded. Go to My Documents, then EA Games, then The Sims 2, copy all of the files in the Downloads folder, and paste them in a new backup folder on your desktop. Then you won't need to worry about losing your custom content. If you do lose it, reinstall it from the backup later.

Yes, you need to reinstall Seasons.  No, you're not going to lose anything.

1) Start->My Documents.
2) Double click the "EA Games" folder.
3) Right click the "The Sims 2" folder.
4) Select "Rename" from the context (pop up) menu.
5) Type "The Sims 2 safe" and press Enter.
6) Reinstall Seasons.  Install H&M Stuff if desired.
7) Run the game.
8) Repeat steps 1-3.
9) Pick "Delete" from the context menu. (This is the folder your reinstall of Seasons made, don't worry.)
10) Right click the "The Sims 2 safe" folder.
11) Pick "Rename" from the context menu.
12) Type "The Sims 2" and press Enter.

You should be right back where you were.  Personally, I do this before installing any of EA's buggy stuff.

No.  Once the folder is renamed, your families and CC are 100% invisible to the whole uninstall/reinstall process.

I guess I should have warned you that you might need to reboot before you can perform the rename step.  Usually just waiting a few minutes will let the operating system settle down so you can rename the folder, but I swear, sometimes an evil demon is hiding in there ...
