Chapter Five - We're not coming back
I didn't take notice of the voices around me, or the hand that pulled me up.
"Ann!" I looked at Jack without really seeing him.
"Come on Ann!" The next moment my cheek seemed to explode with pain. Jack had slapped me in the face. And not gently too. "Oi! What the hell do you think you're doing?" I pushed my hand against my cheek to stop the bleeding.
"Thank God. For a moment I thought you were really gone."
"Gone? What the heck are you talking about? And why did you do that?" I pointed to the scratch on my cheeck.
"You suddenly went all crazy. You started to scream things like 'I didn't kill you,' and then you clung onto that grave, and you wouldn't answer me for all the money in the world. What else should I've done?"
"Oh." Jack rolled his eyes, and put his arm around my shoulder. "We are going home now, and we're not coming back to this place."
"But-"
"No."
We walked back to the car. Neither of us noticed the man between the trees.
It's short, I know. Sorry about that.
