help with installing on extenal hard drive

I did a search but couldnt find a thread that answers this paticular question. I have all of the expansin packs and stuff packs and it pretty much takes up all the space on our hard drive, so as an early christmas preasant my mom bought me an external hard drive. i've heard that it can be slow but frankly i cant imagine it being any slower than it already is. the problem I'm haveing is that when i try to install the game it either tells me that the F drive is invalid (or something to that effect) or it starts installing on the C drive anyway. So if anyone can help me with this I'd be very appricitive(SP?)

your external hard drive should be set as slave. open your ext drive and you will see an instruction on how to set the drive to slave. your main drive will become the master drive.
