Okay I bought my laptop last November Having gotten $1000 from my grandmother for staying and taking care of her. I had been wanting a laptop for so long. I spent months searching and researching for the one I wanted. When I went to the store they did not have the exact one I wanted but this was a good deal and looked similar in stats. Well I have just had the hardest time running Sims on it which is what I really wanted my new laptop to do. I have found out that my Video Card is not good and can't be updated. Memory though can be upgraded. I also have my old computer I bought it more than 7 years ago. Its slowing down thats why I bought the laptop. I also have the Sims on it but again problems there. And very slow. I will post the dxdiag for the laptop now and the ones for my computer later. Any idea what I can do. I would delete all my downloads but then I would have to download some of them again and I would not be left with much do even do a contest with. I am getting rid of all objects and hacks and leaving clothes, hair and make up if I can to cut down on my download folder. I would love to just be able to return the computer if I was sure I could and get one that has a better video card and memory or whatever and would allow all things to even be upgraded. I do have money right now to get a better one if needed but I hate to do that. Like I said I am so mad and frustrated.

And I also checked my DXDiag here on my desk top Compaq Computer just now. I also went to Crucral Memory and had a search done. I can get two 512 slots for a total of $130. I also think I will get a new video Card too. So with my info what kind should I get and does that memory sound good that would make my total memory to 1.25GB Oh and I have XP here on this computer. And any other things that I should look into. I will upgrade this computer instead of the laptop. Also is ATI Video Card better?

So should I try and add more memory to my Laptop which should help a bit. prices are $51 for 2-1Gig slots for a total on my system of 3 Gigs or for $130 buy 2-512mb slots for my Desktop which is a older computer and I only have 256mb on there right now. Which system after updating would run the Sims 2 and all their expansion packs

If I were you, I'd upgrade the desktop and stick with NVIDIA video card.
But, get a better one.

Your desktop computer is pretty much obsolete.  Rather than trying to piecemeal upgrading it, you'd be better off saving your money for a new desktop.  You can get a much much better machine for not much more than the cost of the memory upgrade you found.

Your notebook computer won't be much good for games.  Any game.  You might contact the retailer where you bought it and try to get an exchange.  If you have to explain to the manager that you came into the store wanting a gaming laptop and you were sold a computer that can't do that.
