Hair salon and Dance studio help!

I just opened a hair salon as a home business for my sim, and she just keeps messing up people's faces! How do I make her improve her styling skills? Can I ask her to read a book or what?
Also I intend to open a dance studio. I have free time. Its just that I wonder if that is possible. What do I have to do and buy? Thanks!
