How do I remove stairs?

I'm remodeling Don Lothario's house and I want to remove the third floor but when I click on them,  I get a message saying I can't pick them up. What do I do to get rid of the stairs when this happens?

One type of staircase is removed by picking it up with the hand.
The other type of stairs is removed by CTRL-left clicking on them.

They're probably modular stairs. Those are the one you CTRL-left click on to remove :)

I tried it both ways and I can't get rid of them, they are the glass looking ones with the black rail. When I click on them it still says, can't pick up.

if your zoomed in to much then you cant delete or pick up stairs,
but the stairs at Don are modular. Try zooming out and then ctrl and left click.
If that dont work, you could have the same problem as me.
Sometimes i need to save the lot, go out and go back and then i can remove things.
Sometimes if i pick up a thing and then put it down i cant select that thing until next time in the house.
