What I do is, take out the stuff I really, really don't need.

I honestly don't need 499 different skintones.

I don't need 6,722 different recolors of one bed.

What I did do was, find one or two different kitchen sets that are totally versatile. Found one living room set that I can change any way I want. Found one bedroom set that gives me high comfort and energy with recolors. And, I'm pretty happy.

I put all my downloads (original files) on an extra drive in my computer that does not have an OS. That way I don't have to go searching for them, and I don't clutter up my C drive and if my game crashes, I have all of them in one place. It's saved me countless headaches restoring my game.

But make sure you back up in case you want something (specific) back-

Treat it like your closet (in my case anyway ;)) If you havent worn/used something in a while, put it aside, out of the closet/downloads folder and just leave it. If you dont really miss it for a week, delete it.
Or put it on the charity pile (clothes ;))
