STUDY- 8:58 AM

There was knock at the Study door....

"Are you in there, dear?" Bipin called.

Ethylene Peacock rose out of her seat in anticipation.

"Bip, is that you my darling? Do come in!"

She brushed off her dress and stood regally as her new suitor entered the Study. He was smiling warming while his left hand clutched a golden Globus Cruciger.

"Ethylene, my beautiful peacock...."

Mrs. Peacock returned a charmed and excited smile in return.

"How extraordinary to see you once again Bip, and how smashing you do look!" She complimented breathily.

Then she noticed the Globus in his hand.

"Oh, why did you pick that up dear?"

Bipin smiled.

"I couldn't help but notice all the wonderful things you keep in your place. I thought this was quite a magnificent piece!"

He walked over to the mantle and set it down.

"Most of them were Charles things, but no matter. Come here love.." Peacock enticed, "It's been too long...."

"Don't mind if I do..."

They both embraced in warm, intimate kiss.

"So, how was the voyage to Canada?" Mrs. Peacock asked as she gently pulled away from him.

"Frightfully good," Prof. Corundum replied, "Excellent weather through and through."

Mrs. Peacock took his hand and they both slowly walked over to some chairs by the desk as they sat down. There was so much conversation to engage in, yet so little time. They both missed each other dearly when Ethyl had to return. They shared quite a history together during those few months in the Indian cities and jungles.

"I had this penned this together," Mrs. Peacock informed him as she pulled out a book from the top of her desk, "It's a little rough copy of the book we've worked on together, based on the research we gathered. Oh, I almost remember as though it were yesterday when we were out strolling in the unfolding habitat of the wild jungle. The sounds of a million different species coursing in their own little song, yet not a single one to be seen...."

She passed the book over to Bipin as he carefully flipped through it.

"Yes, yes....I do love it so much there in India...." He admitted, "The chaos of the city, yet the thrilling order of the wild. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else...."

"Not even here?" Peacock suggested with a wink.

"Except here of course," He replied, amused, "How could I not appreciate the wonders of Canada...."

Then he paused.

"I don't know why you are not in the same line of work as me, my dear," He wondered, "Your zest and enthusiasm for the class of the birds astounded me greatly."

He put his hand gently on her lap.

Peacock blushed,

"Oh, you flatter me too much," She giggled, "Birds have been a passion of my youth. The grace of their flight, the meticulousness of their eating, the beauty of their plumage.....oh I could go on and on...."

KITCHEN- 9:10 AM

The delicious aroma of flapjacks filled the air of the Kitchen. It was a pleasure to have Mrs. Mary White prepare them on Saturday mornings. Nobody makes flapjacks the same way as Mrs. White does. As a cook and a maid in the house, Mrs. White does all with great skill and efficiency. Of course, Mrs. White always prepared her food with tender love and care....and perhaps a little something extra or two.

Suddenly, Prof. Corundum entered the Kitchen. Mrs. White hated anyone who trespassed her domain. Actually she hated almost everything in general.

"Excuse me, my good madam," Prof. Corundum pardoned, "I was wondering if you had anything little morsel to nibble on."

"Breakfast will be ready in five minutes, sir," She replied in an cheerful tone.

"Thank you for letting me know," Bipin thanked, "Oh...and your flapjacks smell simply divine."

With that he left.

"Now where did I put that Poison...." Mrs. White wondered coldly.

DINING ROOM - 9:17 AM

"Morning Mrs. White," Colonel Mustard greeted as he entered the Dining Room, he was always punctual, thus being the first on in the Dining Room, "Breakfast sure is a bit late than usual."

"Up yours, you fat crap..." White muttered under her breath.

"I beg your pardon?" Mustard requested.

"I said, please enjoy my flap jacks," White answered back.

Mustard smiled with approval.

"I certainly will," He said, "They smell delicious."

Madame Rose and Professor Plum entered the Dining Room next. Plum's mouth watered at the sight of the steaming hot pancakes with melted butter prepared. Madame Rose however seemed a little more wary.

"There's poison in the air....!" Rose declared.

Mrs. White jumped a little.

"I'm sorry, what did you say!?" White stuttered nervously.

"Yes, the poison of an deceptive soul," Rose continued.

"Now Miss Rose, I think your being a tad over dramatic," Colonel Mustard scoffed from his seat.

She ignored this remark.

"Will Professor Corundum be joining us for breakfast?" Rose inquired.

"I believe he would," Mrs. White replied, "He delighted me earlier in the Kitchen with an empty stomach. A man like that never misses a meal..."

"Very well," Rose replied, "I mustn't partake in breakfast in the same room as him. Therefore, I must excuse myself from this meal and set out for a place that will be less....draining.."

"Anna!" Plum called, "Don't leave us. What difference does it make if the professor sits with us or not?"

"My apologies Nathan," Rose apologized, "I cannot dine with that man..."

With that, she departed.

"That woman has always been bonkers," Mrs. White thought to herself, "Ever since Mr. Peacock died, she has gone off her rocker. Somebody ought to put her in Bedlam, one of these days."

On that mental note, she returned to the Kitchen, leaving Mustard and Plum alone.

"Professor Corundum, that was the name she said, was it?" Mustard inquired.

"Yes..." Plum said, stroking his chin thinking, "I swear I know his name from somewhere...."

Then he picked up the Candlestick.

"Excuse me Colonel," He pardoned, "I must go...um...shed some light on a certain matter."

Then Professor Plum too left the Dining Room, leaving Colonel Mustard all by himself.

"Professor Bipin Corundum" Mustard pondered, "That's definitely the man Brown and I encountered back in India. I wonder if he ever spoke...or has come to speak now...."

KITCHEN- 9:30 AM

Mrs. White was busy tidying up the Kitchen while Hogarth sat down to enjoy his meal of a cheese sandwich. It was his break at the moment. Suddenly, there was noise coming from the direction of the stove....

"G'mornin Mary" Captain Brown greeted as he entered the Kitchen through a passage behind the stove, "Your Kitchen is looking especially spiffy today, not to mention yourself as well. Your cheeks bloom with roses on a fine morning such as this."

He added a wink to this last sentence. He has a little fancy for Mrs. White, which she picked up on quite a while ago. Yet, her feelings remained icy.

"Are you hungry Captain?" She asked, "There is some breakfast already set in the Dining Room."

"Gawh, I've already fitched one of your flappy jacks five minutes ago,"  He admitted, "Delicious they were. Say, how about some coffee, m'lass?"

Mrs. White folded her arms.

"There's a coffee maker on the counter over there..."

"Mary, don't be rude to him..." Hogarth scolded.

Even Capt. Brown was taken aback a little.

"I'm surprised, your not your cheerful little self today, my peppered little tuna," He said with a teasing chuckle, "Is something bothering you?"

Indeed, something was bothering Mrs. White. Something a little more than usual.

"I don't think I ought to tell you sir..." She muffled as she turned away and walked over to the counter, "Very well, I'll make you some coffee....do you want it plain or with milk?"

"Just straight and black, lass," Brown replied as he took a little stroll around the Kitchen.

He paused for a moment as she prepared his coffee.

"Now then," Brown continued, "I wouldn't mind having a listen to the tale that on your mind. You can trust me, dearie."

White remained silent.

Brown then absent-mindedly picked up a Knife in his hand and waved it about with his words.

"Oh come now," Coerced Capt. Brown, "It wouldn't have anything to do with...say the new gentleman friend of Ethyl's would it now?"

"Certainly not!" Mrs. White suddenly snapped with a an usually loud tone.

Hogarth and Bernard stared at her in surprise.

"Well, except....he's just another mouth to feed. That's all."

PLUM'S ROOM- 9:45 AM

Professor Plum had retreated to his bedroom where he was rummaging through old archives of newspaper articles and books. For a while his search had been fruitless, until he came across one little article from a paper printed three years ago. The detail of the article? An incredible new innovation by Prof. B. Corundum concerning the biological system of life in an organism and how it can be reanimated after death.

"How could I have forgotten him!?" Plum stuttered in anger, "That was my thesis and that was my paper I wrote. He claimed he was a scientist with...years of experience? My foot! He was a fraud... he stole...he stole my idea back then. And now...he's come back!"
