downloads show up fine in the catalogs, hairs show up fine in the catalogs, but the sim itself does not appear.

Legally through EA Online, right? If it wasn't, that would pretty much explain the problem, and we wouldn't be able to help you out if it was downloaded illegally. :angel:
If you installed it through your disc set, though, that would be a different story. :lol: What are your computer's specifications? (Amount of memory, video card brand/type/amount of shared video RAM, etc.) Every time you install a newer EP, the graphic requirements raise themselves slightly. ;)

Another thing : motives/wants/fears and all of that do NOT show up either.

yes i have, the only hacks i have currently installed are insimenator and inteen, no custom careers, acr, weather hacks or anything like that.
