Title: Fashion Model Multi matches Marvine's Alphaskirt
Post by: BlooM on March 03, 2008, 12:01:03 am
Hey All

This is a little present for J00wish (http://www.insimenator.net/member.php?u=268761)
I took my Fm Multidress and remapped it on the uvmap of Marvine's Alphaskirt (http://www.insimenator.org/showthread.php?t=4245).
Also attached her gorgeous Heels to it.(and i needed the lower part of the alphaskirt)

I made this mesh for those who love her alphaskirt textures and the many recolors available for this skirt but find it very hard to make conversions or to edit the BMP files.
With this mesh you can do it easily, even with paint. ;)

Note:
Do NOT post conversions without Marvine's permission!!(i hope she will forgive me this example......)

I also changed the filenames back to the ones Marvine used at the time, the body_alpha5 and body_alpha3 but there is a 4th file, the original alphatop called Top.
Use this file for the top textures that normally were placed on the body.

This is how you convert:
start 2 projects, one with this outfit and one with Marvine's original.
Minimize bodyshop when done and go to the foldermap were the textures from Marvine's outfit are located.
Select the 6 BMP files in that folder and copy them.
Now browse to the folder were the textures of this outfit are located and paste the 6 files.
Overwrite the files.

If you check your project back in bodyshop you will see that you converted the skirt and heels succesfully but that the textures for the upperbody are on the nude body from the Fashionmodel.

Minimize bodyshop and surf to the FM folder were you just paste your files.

Open the ''body~stdMatBaseTextureName_alpha.bmp'' and choose save as and save it as the ''top~stdMatBaseTextureName_alpha.bmp''.

On that same file black out the white from the upper half, the shirt and now choose save as and save it as ''body~stdMatBaseTextureName_alpha.bmp'' .
Close that file

Open ''body~stdMatBaseTextureName.bmp'' and choose save as and save it as ''top~stdMatBaseTextureName.bmp''
Done

Check back in bodyshop and look if all went well. :)

Notes:
I did tweak the lower part below the knees(wich is Marvines original skirt) a bit but theres still minor clipping at the calves, didn't want to spent hours to fix it..
The mesh also has flared alpha sleeves, like the 34ax34 alphadress
I did this for the Fashion model, will not do other bodyshapes ;)
There is some bleeding through with some hairmeshes

One person downloaded, did a small update after that(normals)

I have two questions I'm hoping you can help me with. I've been converting like crazy and came across two issues:

1. The sleeves on the dresses are all flared, and I don't know what to do to make them tight against the skin (or if I can).

2. I was trying to convert pants outfits and can't.

I appreciate you creating this so much and don't want to be a bother... but any help would be appreciated.

1. if you want them tight you paste the textures on the body files but the rest of the top textures will be also on the nude body then unless you manage to combine the alphatop with the nude arms.

2.Tho, this is a mesh to convert Marvine's alphaskirt outfits, dont expect a pants in it......

You talking bout issues..........but,
You did a request for a mesh so you can convert Marvine's alphaskirt textures:
That mesh(hers):
*doesn't have sleeves
*doesn't have a pants

So unless you want to drive me nuts i suggest you think twice before you post your ''issue's'' :D

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you. My original request was for the skirt and shorts/bikini so I would be able to convert all my clothing. I am still very knew and since I saw the outfits with sleeves and pants were using the same Mesh I figured it would work. Thank you.

Maybe I should stalk you too?  Or just ask silly meshing questions which will make your head explode?

Anyhow... I'm helping Odessa with the skinning via IMs.  She's catching on fast, just has lots of questions, like we all did when we started.

I only did the alphaskirt mesh conversion, not the pants and sleeve mesh(you cant have both in one mesh)to make it as easy as possible for starter skinners.
Including a pants in it would make it to complicate again for most. ;)

Bloom, I think what JOOwish meant is that marvine's original alphaskirt in built on an undies type mesh (smooth), whereas your alpha's are on nude bodies (detailed). You therefore find a lot of capri type of outfits on marvine's original alphaskirt and I think it's these she was meaning regarding the pants bit rather than trousers like on your FM multimesh.
Hope this helps.

Thank you, Kieren. That's what I meant. It's hard for me to explain because I don't understand the meshes completely. I'm learning though!

Not sure why the sleeves aren't working either. Miros has graciously offered to help me so hopefully we'll figure out a way to combine them. I really do appreciate you creating part of my request. I've converted over twenty outfits so far and they look great!

I'll ask someone to create the pants mesh part in a bit. You're wonderful for helping me with this. Thank you!

Like i dont know that............those are textured arms and no sleeves!

Hey, I'm real sorry for making you feel that way. The sleeve explanation was meant to be for JOOwish, unfortunately it was poorly constructed and worded and the inclusion of a quote from you really didn't help matters as it made it appear to be more for you, I have now deleted the post.
This is a awesome mesh and I hate the fact I've contributed in making you feel that your effort hasn't been appreciated. For this I am truly sorry.
I will drop this now but I felt I had to apologise first for my thoughtlessness.
