1  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / RIP: Patrick Swazye on: September 14, 2009, 07:48:41 pm
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/thedishrag/2009/09/sad-news-patrick-swayze-dies-of-cancer-after-a-two-year-fight.html

I normally don’t come out of my normal realm o lurking and post much of anything, but a few minutes ago my friend sent me a link and reported that Patrick Swazye had passed away loosing his two year battle with cancer. I didn’t personally know him but I will always remember him from his roles in Dirty Dancing and Too Wong Foo.

He was a remarkable actor, animal lover, he put up a long battle with cancer and he will be greatly missed by his family, his friends, and his fans.
2  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Help / Re: MORE MONEY????? on: July 24, 2009, 06:53:25 pm
You can always try it the way that I do when I want to give sims more money:

Ctrl Shift C
testingcheatsenabled true
motherlode

It will give the standard 50,000 that you got in the Sims 2 with the motherlode cheat.

LOL! *sings with*

You know I worried about the same thing Paden, the needle
and how much it would hurt. In the end though once the guy
got started I didn't even notice it cause I was sending text on
my phone. I had one spot that kinda hurt but that was it, and
I found if I turned my head I couldn't see what he was doing
with the needle.
4  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / Re: My marks, my life on: June 08, 2009, 11:37:28 pm

My first one, I got it a few months ago.
Going back sometime in July to get another one or two.

This is the Brujah and the Malkavian symbols from Vampire the Masquerade.
It kind of started out as a joke with my friend because I told her I wanted
to get the two symbols tattooed though at the time I meant seperatly. Well
she fired back with but if you put them together that would make crazy b**ch,
and that would describe you perfectly. So that's what ended up happening. That
aside they hold a lot of meaning to me, and the next one that I plan on getting will either be
an ankh or the Cappadocian clan symbol from VTM.

5  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: I'm I the only one who would rather just keep playing sims 2. on: June 08, 2009, 07:00:18 pm
I got the game as a gift, I've tried playing the game because my Mom bought it for me and well like some other people have said. She and Dad are pressed for cash so buying this was a stretch for her, and no matter how hard I try, either by seeing it as a stand alone game or the next generation I can't get into it in the least bit.

The so called free world sucks and it's more restrictive than in the Sims 2, I mean seriously i sent a sim to go have dinner out and had to watch the lovely little bubble with her face on it while she stayed inside for ever. The neightborhood it's self isn't attractive and I don't know maybe it's just me but it reminds me of the neighborhood in the Sims 1. In a lot of ways it feels like EA regressed with this game, and honestly if I could get the money back I so would. I mean seriously I have a seven year old, he took one look at the game, wrinkled his nose and then walked away from the computer. He wasn't impressed with it in the least bit and then he's spent the last twenty-minutes telling me that he didn't like it.

Yes it has some good things, would I liked to have seen the personality traits in the Sims 2 like what Sims 3 has, yes yes I would have but I can do without them if it's at the risk of having some craptastic piece of fluff that appears to have been months away from actually being able to be released to the public though this isn't surprising that they put out something that isn't finished and other people have to fix the mistakes that they've made. It's classic EA behavior.

I'm just not happy with the game, maybe after it's had a while and it's been tinkered with some more I'll try it again but for now i think I'll just stick with the Sims 2 and leave it at that.
6  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / Re: If You're Not Playing Sims 2 What Other Game Do You Play. on: June 07, 2009, 10:22:35 pm
If I'm not playing the Sims 2 I'm normally playing:

DragonFable, tried AdventureQuest but in the end didn't like it as much.
American McGee's Alice
Vampire Masquerade: Redemptions
Masquerade: Bloodlines, there will sadly never ever be another game like this.
7  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Re: Jilted at the altar? on: June 04, 2009, 11:49:14 pm
I've done this before both with custom sims and pre-made sims from Pleasantview.

For example sake I'm gonna use Don Lothario and Cassandra Goth though, because it's late and my caffine kick is slowly starting to wear off.

The best way to get a sim left at the alter is to invite a sim that they had a romantic involvement to the wedding. Like with ole Donnie boy, having Dina and Nina at the wedding caused him to leave Cassandra at the alter. This method also worked for two custom sims that I had made and decided that I wanted to torture so I'm assuming that it's the universal way to have this happen.
8  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: The sims 3, What do you think? on: June 03, 2009, 11:18:56 pm
So I got the Sims 3 today, my Mom bought it for me when I took her to the grocery, and I've spent the better part of the afternoon and night playing it. To be honest I'm still on the fence about the entire thing, I mean on the one hand I like some of the features that it has to offer while on the other hand some of the things sort of make my eye twitched. All in all it hadn't been a horrible experince playing the game, but I won't be un-installing the Sims 2 or Bloodlines to make it go faster or anything like that.

Best Feature I've Found:
The new CAS. Call me crazy but I like all of the options that it offers, being able to pick one item and then change it completely with just the few clicks of a button. Also having the new body shapes with the sliders is nice too, instead of having the same shaped sims all over the place.

Worst Feature I've Found:
It might just be me (I'm running on coffee, cigarettes, and steam at this point) but I hate the fact that I can't make the lot move the same way that I can in the sims too. Where I can just neatly guide it to the location that I want it to go to. Instead I spend much of the time hitting the rotate button trying to get it exactly where I want so that I can add something to a room or take something from a room.

Like I said all in all it isn't a totally bad experince, it doesn't make me want to jump for joy but I haven't tossed my cookies either. So I'd give it maybe a 5.5 out of 10.

While I do not dispute the fact that it is DL’s board and she has a right to do as she pleases with it, I think there is a bit of the whole pot calling the kettle black thing going on here. You seem to not realize that the same rules apply, this is Kathy and Eric’s board and they do have a right to post what they want. If you don’t like this thread, then simply put. Exit the page and don’t read it, because you can not have your cake and eat it too. Kathy has a right to post a discussion on her own forum without people making a fuss and saying that it has to do with ancient history, which ancient pointed out isn't the case.

With vampires, zombies, werewolves and aliens abducting and impregnating helpless men , she's worried about witches? (If you want to split hairs for the sake of splitting hairs, wouldn't the alien abduction thing be the equivalent of space rape? Now that's evil. *rolleyes*)

I think a good point was made in the above statement, and it goes to prove that witches in the game and claiming them to be a Satanic is a bit of an extreme especially when you are only singling out one thing. As well as banning your members because they don’t agree with you or they try to educate you.

I see hypocrisy this matter as well.

Centuries ago the churches hunted out those that they thought to be vampires and staked them in the heart after they had already been buried or worse. Church and religious officials went on wild hunts for werewolves and even put several people to death because they believed them to be monsters of the night.  With that said why pick just the witches in the game, why not the other two things or as caffeinated.joy said why not the alien pregnancy.  Witches were not the only ones that were hunted down and burned at the stake by the churches and whatnot, but they seem to be the only one being focused on.

Had this been something that had been said in the beginning when University, Pets and Nightlife were put out I would have far more sympathy. As it is though, Religion is a touchy subject on any level and when someone feels that there are belief system is being insulted or offended or they are being backed into a corner they lash out.

The whole point however is that the thread wasn’t meant be considered one person calling another out, the thread was posted to get the views of members and see what they thought about it and if they thought that witches in the game were wrong.

I find the sheer and utter stupidity in it hilarious. It is just a game and not meant to be taken literally, honestly. I saw nothing satanic about the witches in the game, and trust me I spent the better part of three days since getting the EP looking for them just so I could test them out and see.

Though sadly upon finding out that witches were in the game I kind of suspected that something would happen like this, where it was taken to an extreme.

Everyone is entitled to their own belief system and what they want to see on their site, that is their right as an owner. What I think is absolutely disturbing is that she’s banning people that don’t share in her opinion. Religion is a touchy subject and she really should have known upon posting and sending out her little email, that there were going to be those that didn’t have her views and would try to explain it. As a site owner she should have known this and been prepared to instead of banning actually take the time to listen to her members and find a happy medium on her so called Christian (when it suits her site) that she has.

Bottom line her banning people from my angle is just wrong, a forum is meant to give its members a place to speak freely and not somewhere that they have to hide what they think; just because they fear the admin might very well ban them for that belief. Its being small minded and hypocritical on her part.

Ugh, small minded people make me sad.
