1  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Weird Multiple Glitches on: March 01, 2009, 04:49:04 pm
The hack detector picked up 37 things (lol no wonder the game isn't working)...what now?

Edit...I cleared out the cache and the cigen files and also deleted all my inTeen stuff because I don't need it anymore. Though the game loaded really slowly and really weird (It started sorta, but I saw the blue screen and the regular mouse cursor, so I hit ctrl+alt+del, had to type in my computer's password and when the computer reloaded the game started up), it worked! Better yet, CAS seemed back to normal, though I didn't really play with it, I just wanted to see it. The Sim was back in the right place in front of the mirror. Smiley

So yeah, it may be fixed. Thanks for all who helped. I'll see what happens later on if I try making a family.

I deleted the dest version and now when I put the game in, it loads the Nightlife logo but won't start. :/

Mods as in what exactly? Any mods I have installed have been in my downloads folder for a long time and have never given me problems before, so I'm a bit confused how this could be effecting me now...

Edit- I went through my downloads folder and realize I have two different versions of inSim installed, the dest version and the sim version. Could that be it?

Hi guys. Since this is such a weird series of problems I'm going to put as much detail into this post as possible to provide the most amount of information.

Okay, so after hearing about some of the more lacklustre features on Sims 3 (like no custom content from what I've read, but that's another issue entirely) I decided to reinstall my Sims 2 game. Now, I had lost all of my Sims 2 data when I had my laptop reformatted, except the downloads folder, which I backed up. Given that this was in December and I hadn't played since like August, I didn't really care. I wanted to start fresh anyway, so I reinstalled and put the downloads folder back and went crazy in Body Shop. I mean I've spent weeks and weeks working on my Sims, so it's really upsetting about what's happened next.

First I couldn't get any families to load, and had odd glitches when making one family with kids. The kids didn't move, didn't animate, and when I went to make a second kid, the first kid was sitting in the spot too, creating sort of an overlap. I remembered then that my hacks are for Nightlife (inSim being the most significant hack) and I only had the base game running (trying to conserve memory space on this old laptop), so I installed that. Suddenly I could load families. Okay, great. I moved the two families that hadn't glitched on me into homes and furnished them.

Then, today, I went back to move in the family that did glitch up when I made them in CAS, but seemed alright besides that. Twenty or thirty minutes go by (I don't know how long exactly, I was reading) and nothing, still loading. Since I was moving them to an empty lot to give them more money for a bigger house, I found this odd and I quit (aka ctrl+alt+deleted) the game. My next idea was that the family was corrupted, that perhaps the game wouldn't realize for this family that I'd updated the expansion or whatever, so I deleted them.

I go into CAS, and this is where it gets really weird. The random Sim that CAS gives you is standing way back behind the mirror (I print-screened and graciously it worked, so check out the attachment to see what I mean). I thought that was weird, but considering my CAS glitches already and how I had worked through them, I clicked on. The music skips, the game crashes, I'm back to my desktop. Pissed but not completely deterred, I try again, figuring it could just be a hoax. Again, CAS dude way at the back of the screen. Whatever. I tried loading my pre-made Sim, tried naming him, but the minute I went in to customise his face or outfit, the game crashes again!

I really have NO idea what could be causing this. I have never experienced so much glitchiness all at once ever. This is by no means a new computer, and since I've gotten the game working from the other night to this one, I haven't downloaded a single thing. I have all my custom content enabled, and it's never given me a hard time before. Afterall, the game worked just the other night, but it won't work now.

Can anyone give me some help on this? I can't make anymore Sims in-game, and it's SUCH a bummer considering I've been working all month on all my Sims...Sad

Thanks.

Edit to mention that I only have the base game and Nightlife installed.

5  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Sim Celebrities / Chris Cornell on: February 17, 2008, 05:48:46 pm

Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell was born July 20, 1964 in Seattle, Washington amongst over five other siblings. Antisocial and musically inclined, Chris played in a slew of bands growing up while working at a seafood restaurant after dropping out of high school. During this time Chris would often go a week or two without speaking to any of his coworkers and nearly got fired for it.

In 1984 Chris, guitarist Kim Thayil, bassist Hiro Yamamato and drummer Scott Sundquist formed the first incarnation of Soundgarden. Years later, after playing various small Seattle clubs, they appeared on a musical compilation called Deep Six, which got them noticed and eventually helped them sign to a major label by the early 1990s. By 1994 the band, with a few lineup changes by now, rose to ultimate popularity with their classic album Superunknown, which features hits like Fell on Black Days, Spoonman and Black Hole Sun.

The Chris Sim that I made focuses more on that mid-to-late 90s era Chris, after the haircut, before the Soundgarden split.

Onto the credits and whatnot...

The skintone is modified off of an @stefan skintone. Eyebrows, facial hair and a modified torso are all part of the skintone.

The hair is a mesh by flora.

The clothes are by opeu.

The eyebags are by cordivophile2, as are the agelines, which I modified.

7  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Sim Celebrities / Eddie Vedder on: February 10, 2008, 05:03:33 pm

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder was born on December 23, 1964 in Evanston, Illinois. Eddie had a tumultous childhood, moving to California at a young age and bouncing between living with his mother, step-father and various family relatives. In his late teens Eddie discovered the man who had been perceived as his real father his whole life, his step-dad, was not indeed his biological father and that his true biological father was dead. This inspired one of Pearl Jam's most classic and well known songs, Alive, off their debut album Ten.

Vedder's work with fellow Seattle musician Chris Cornell (of Soundgarden) and future bandmates Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready and Matt Cameron in the Temple of the Dog project led to the formation of Pearl Jam. Hitting their peak popularity in the mid-90s, Eddie and crew slowly backed away from the spotlight, releasing more low-key albums and embarking on less expansive tours.

This version of Eddie is the late 90s version, namely 1996.

As for the credits...

Skintone is modified off of a @stefan skintone. Eyebrows are attached to the skintone. Features Eddie's ankle tattoo as well.

The eyebags (which I modified) are by cordivophile2.

I can't find the exact maker of the hair, but it's called RogerHair and I know it was someone's Sim for the Rent project over at mts2. I recolored it.

The clothes in the pictures are by opeu.

Aparently MTS2 didn't agree, she was rejected for not looking enough like Famke.

Glad you guys don't think that!

I just went through the same thing with one of my Sims. mts2 is a little crazy sometimes...she is dead-on and extremely realistic! Nice job! Smiley

Rejected by mts2 because she is just that badass (or perhaps because she's not top 40), coming straight from a pouty photoshoot right to your game is the lovely, the beautiful, and most importantly the TALENTED Fiona Apple!

Fiona Apple McAfee Maggart was born September 13th, 1977 in New York City. A reclusive, antisocial child who was raped at 12, Fiona spent most of her childhood years in therapy and writing piano pieces to animal chases she saw on TV. Fiona wrote her first song at 11, putting lyrics to her music years later. By 17 she headed to LA to record a demo tape, and one of the seventy-something copies she made (which included the beautiful piano ballad Never is a Promise which later wound up on her debut Tidal) went to a friend who babysat for a record executive bigwig.

At 19, Fiona released her debut, Tidal, which features such classics on it as Sleep to Dream and everyone's favorite Criminal. This is the version of Fiona I made, the young waif straight outta New York, the one who cries at photoshoots, won't touch meat or dairy, and has a huge soul and voice in one tiny little body.

Alright, so...to the credits!

The skintone is by jirka (thesimssi2 at mts2) and modified by me.

The eyes are by @stefan at mts2.

The hair is by Maxis, as are the clothes that are included in the file, which is the pink spaghetti strap tank top and the black jeans.

**About the skintone** The eyebrows are attached to the skintone, and Fiona wears no makeup, so all eye and lip detail are a part of the skintone.

Skintone is modified off of a Warlokk Bodyshape mesh. Fiona's skintone utilizes his Milla Johovich Bodyshape mesh...meaning she should have that Bodyshape when naked. When clothed, unless you utilize Bodyshape meshes, it shouldn't matter.

Want your Fiona to have that waif look she is so well known for? Download some of warlokk's fantastic Bodyshape work to give Fiona a bit of realistic flair.

11  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Picture File Names? on: January 18, 2008, 11:18:17 am
My apologies if there's been a thread like this before. I've looked and didn't see one.

When I play Sims, I love taking pictures and then posting them to share. The only problem is though that organizing the pictures in the order I took them takes forever! In the actual game itself, if I were to go into story mode, all of the pictures I have taken are in the order I took them in, but as soon as I quit the game and go into the neighborhood folder, it's a free for all in terms of the picture order. They're all ordered alphabetically in terms of these crazy file names: snapshot_749c0969_b49c0f1f for example.

What I do is upload them all to Photobucket, view them all and organize them that way when posting...but there has GOT to be an easier way to do it, right?

What I'm wondering is if there is any hack/download/whatever that allows you to name the file your photo is saved to. Even if I can just call them 01, 02, 03, etc., it'd be a lot better than going through a dozen 'snapshot_random numbers and letters combo' files.

Thanks!
12  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Quick Question Regarding Backing Up Sims Info on Harddrive... on: January 05, 2008, 11:09:56 pm
I am going to get the computer backed up...I was just wondering if someone else has had a computer issue, had it repaired and had their harddrive-with Sims stuff on it-backed up and restored properly. I have yet to ever get a computer fixed or backed up, so I'm hoping not to lose any of the Sims I just worked over a week making.

Thanks though. Smiley
13  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Quick Question Regarding Backing Up Sims Info on Harddrive... on: January 05, 2008, 03:53:01 pm
Hi guys.

I messed up my laptop the other night and now have to send it to Best Buy to get it fixed. They're obviously going to back up all of my information, but I'm wondering how much of my Sims stuff will be able to be retained. Will I lose all of my Body Shop creations (crossing my fingers that I won't)? What about the families I recently just made?

I'm pretty sure my keyboard is all that is messed up (had a spill but can't type the main computer password because half of the keys don't work), but I don't think, even with a new USB keyboard that I would be able to access Body Shop and back up the few Sims I've recently made because I don't know the extent of the laptop's damage. For the past week or so I've been doing a major overhaul with my game...remaking my whole neighborhood. The other night I just made every family in the actual game, so it's a sucky time to lose my computer. I just want to know the chances of what I'd lose if everything were to be backed up and replaced (hopefully on the same computer, not a new one). If Body Shop is going to be empty when I get my computer back, then I want to try to get a USB keyboard and back my Body Shop files up.

Quick replies would be appreciated...I'm going to get the computer fixed in a few hours, so any immediate help would be MASSIVELY appreciated.

Thank you!

I uninstalled Pets originally because it made my game very slow, so I think I'll try the Open for Business inTeen first. Thanks a lot, Jase. Smiley
15  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Oh no! Baby can't be born! on: September 03, 2007, 11:05:10 pm
Hi guys. I just got done playing the game (another family), and before I quit out, I decided to try Julia's family one more time, since I don't have inTeen installed. Well, I aborted the baby, and she went back to normal!!!! (She and her boyfriend will adopt next time I play. Wink)

Thanks SO much to everyone who tried to help me. I have just one more question...I do want inTeen back, so which version should I download to ensure this doesn't happen again?
