Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / ***FOUND*** WCIF 'Townies move into apartments' hack?
|
on: May 07, 2011, 10:24:42 am
|
It's been a while since I last played TS2 and I'm just finding my feet again While I was catching up on all the downloads I've missed, I saw a reference to a hack that makes the regular Townies and Downtownies (Goopy et al) automatically move into apartment blocks as residents rather than having the game spawn more NPCs. Does anybody know where I can find such a thing? I've been looking everywhere, and it'd be much appreciated when I restart my Uberhood!

Have you tried turning your pixel shaders off? This sounds suspiciously like the nVidia graphics bug. Open the cheat console and type:
boolprop useshaders false
Then press enter. Play for a while, and see if it stops crashing. If it does, then put it in your userStartup.cheat.
Failing that, check the amount of heat your computer's putting out. Your card may well be overheating or drawing too much power.

Simmers' Paradise / Sims Stories / The Story of a Merged Hood

I've always liked the default hoods, and downloading HP's merged one gave me the opportunity to start having a great deal of fun with them. I'm also an inveterate storyteller, and, well... inveterate storytellers need audiences As yet, this has no real title, and I'm open to suggestions. It spans the entire 'hood, so updates will, I'm afraid, be quite slow - it takes ages to play, let alone write up :smt120 Located here. I must apologise for the fact that I changed default skintones halfway through playing that day - I wasn't really planning on publishing this until somebody asked me to. I do, however, make no apologies for leaving showheadlines on. I like it that way. More direct links: Day 0 StoryDay 0 BloopersDay 1 is in the process of being collated. Mostly, I'm trying to work out how to organise it - all will be revealed.

You'd be amazed at how much more mature and intelligent you come off as to other people online if you use correct spelling and grammar. everytime i try to toggle my plumbbobs they dont go & the headlines or whatever their called. Ah... do you not have any post-NL expansions? In that case, never mind

Simmers' Paradise / Sims Stories / The Gates of Aldeon - The Genesis

sorry. that was a typo error. It's supposed to be THEN DENILLA. Ahhhh... and suddenly it all makes much more sense. And, it it really is Alexandria. She's been created as my personal villain since I was 8 (or ever since I had Print Artist, dunno which is earlier...) Fair enough. I'm afraid that my inner Classicist is going to keep thinking of her as a place with a library, though

Wow... for a non-native speaker, that's amazingly good. I look forward to seeing where it goes. I like the idea that a mortal can impersonate a goddess, too; keeps tihngs balanced. Just a couple of points: The night was dark as it always was every autumn. Nights are pretty much always dark, aren't they? It's not a property of them that is unique to autumn. Second, just one quite important grammar error: no definite article before proper names. You kept switching between 'Denilla' and 'the Denilla', which confused me as to whether it was her name or a title. And third, beware of inserting random vowels into Greek-derived names. Alexandra is a person; Alexandria is a place

Actually English is my first language haha. Yay, I can go grammar Nazi on you! ...but I won't. Yet. but the thing that happened with this chapter, not to make excuses because I know i can make it better lol, but I just found out I have carpal tunnel in my wrist so my hand basically gave out mid way through. It stinks. Ugh, my condolences. I suffer form RSI myself; it makes typing for any length of time practically impossible.

I like this. However, I wouldn't say that your problem lies with the pictures. True, they could be improved, but they are not bad. I do, however, think that your writing could be improved. Since English seems to be your second language, I won't comment on grammar, or even style - I think you're very brave to even try writing in a foreign language, and it's unfair to comment on something which causes native speakers trouble too. It's the depth that I have a problem with. I find your captions quite dull, not because of style issues per se, but because there is not enough information in there to make them interesting. I am not referring to long, grandiose descriptions - honestly, I despise purple prose - but a sense of how and why people are doing things. When you do do internal monologues, they're quite good, but there aren't enough to really explain why the characters are doing what they're doing or how they feel. Similarly, since you will naturally have a problem recreating realistic dialogue in a foreign language, you might like to start describing how people speak: rather than 'he said', have him snarl, spit, laugh. Adjectives are your friends Looking forward to more. I think I see where this is going, and it should get interesting...
