Title: just wondering.
Post by: vonhammer on September 02, 2008, 12:52:35 pm
well i'm fairly new to creating objects and such, and i was wondering if it is possible to create an object in a 3D CAD software, like say Soildworks, and use it in Sims 2?

(I have acess to Soildworks 2006)

Thanks!

If you have the possibility to export it as a object file then the answer is yes, you can ;)

I'll have to check on that then. Then would I use SimPE to assign uses and such?

uses?
If you want a object ingame the best thing is to clone a excisting game object that comes close to wat you had in mind.
You use object workshop to clone excisting objects.(its in Simpe)
When done/saved and given it its own ID you can replace the meshfile(object file) with your own.(you can use the import functions from Simpe)
Of course you haveto give it correct textures and stuff also

the best and most easy proggy for editing and making meshes for the sims is still Milkshape in my opinion.
It does cost you 30 bucks but if you see wat you can do with it, amazing.
Blender is the only proggy that i know of that is free and that you can use for meshing.

I went and got Blender, and now its just process of trying to figure it out! :smt120

But after i created a mesh, how would i go about importing and such into the sims?
