1  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Re: Sims2 on Windows 7? on: July 25, 2009, 09:59:10 am
word. you never know. i remember assuming that sims 1 would work on vista and being sorely disappointed when i had to run it in administrater mode and having to suffer through crash after crash. luckily sims 2 worked fine once i got my discs back, but that made me very angry at the time. of course, that was during the very early days of vista. with windows 7 who knows? i will say this vista eventually got over most of its issues, so even if windows 7 has issues at first they'll probably fix it eventually. the only question would be when.

nothing wrong with big squares. my worse ones are always big and sprawling. they look like freakin' warehouses. i have one i really want to tear down right now, but i also don't want to bother. it is way too big and flat, though. i built in a hurry for no good reason months ago and i don't even play those sims anymore, but every time i see it neighborhood view it hurts my soul. one of these days i'm going to destroy it.

There's a trick to fixing a house like that.   Take the roof off, arrange the furniture in the rooms toward the center leaving just enough room to get around easily.  Now, just tear down the  outside walls and move them in around the outside of the furniture.  If you have two stories, do this to the first floor first, then match up the second floor as best you can.  If there are overhangs, it's not a big deal.  Many modern houses have that type of modular-looking style...just throw a flat roof on top or maybe a roof patio and you're set.

good advice, but i'll still probably just move them out and trash it. it's a big lot for two sims that don't even want kids and likely never will. i just went kinda overboard because the house i previously had them living in was too tiny and i over compensated when i built them a new one. these days i try to stick to smaller, three story houses. the one i'm playing now is a fairly simple three story with a second story deck and a smaller third story with the surrounding remaining area serving as a bigger deck or whatever you call it over looking the shore and the side yard. it's simple, but i like it. well, i did until i got a dog and learned they apparently can't use spiral stairs and i had to stick and a few elevators in there because i don't like regular stairs.

the one nice thing about the "warehouse" was it was the first house i built with a garage. for some reason i could never get it right before so i always gave up. i don't know what i was doing wrong, but now that i know how to do it i've realised it's damned near the simplest thing ever and almost all of my houses have a garage.

yeah, it definitely pees. that's why i no longer greet it. that and, well, it doesn't do much else, so it's kinda dull once you've seen it a couple times.

oh and, yeah, i haven't had a burglar in forever either. i use to get one in the first couple of days after moving a sim in because i'd always forget about the burglar alarm, but i've gone up to a sim week without getting a burglar alarm and i still haven't seen one in ages. it's probably some stupid mod i have. i was actually yearning for one awhile back because i wanted to see if i could urge a fight without destroying a relationship(my sim is very popular, but nooooo.....

i love it when someone kicks over the trash can because then it's easy to remember to compost it. the maid is just too quick at taking out the trash. that, and i always forget to have my sim take it out because i'm busy making her do other stuff.

mines lame, but i just found out that there was a benefit to joining the garden club. i had no idea. i knew the garden club existed and even though i almost always put a garden on my lots i just never bothered to call them and then i did and they gave me a wishing well because my sims garden was so awesome. i actually like it better than the genie lamp. i wished for romance a couple of times and finally met the evil witch for my neighborhood. i still haven't decided if i want my sim to be an evil witch, though. i hate the green skin and i don't feel like finding a mod to change it. anyway, she wants to be a werewolf, but i'm kind of ignoring that at the moment.
