I came across a ton of those banned commercials yesterday. I don't think I've ever laughed that hard at commercials before. There was this one (Mastercard)where the boyfriend was trying to get fresh with his girlfriend(but it was in detail) and had his hand on the intercom. The sister finally opens the door and says Dad said just do it, or I'll do it, or he'll come down and do it, just tell him to get his hand off the intercom. Cheap bottle of wine 12 dollars. Having a girlfriend who's father has a sense of humor priceless. I think the expression on their faces was more priceless. lol

I love IKEA! My bedroom furniture is from there and I love it... I might buy this, but I will probably wait for awhile.

Whoop! I love IKEA and can't wait for this Stuff Pack.  I'm not a huge fan of Maxis own furniture creations so this should be good.

The link now says
Product data is unavailable. Please accept our apologies for this inconvenience.

I hate when they do that with new stuff, they will put it up and then after like a week take it down and keep us all guessing.

Title: IKEA HOME STUFF [Press Release]
Post by: Jeezo on May 15, 2008, 08:36:51 am
Just received this from my dad who works for a newspaper :).

Players of The Sims 2 will soon be able to add Ikea furniture to their virtual homes as part of a marketing deal between the Swedish company and Electronic Arts, the computer game's producer.EA has formed an unusual partnership with Ikea to make a selection of the retailer's furniture and home furnishings available to players of The Sims 2, sequel to The Sims - the life simulator that is the best-selling PC game series ever. From June 27 Sims 2 players in Europe, the games franchise's biggest market, will be able to decorate their virtual homes with a Malm bed, a Leksvik coffee table and Ektorp sofa, or deck out their virtual home office with a Helmer drawer unit and Lack zigzag shelf. The items will be made available as an add-on software package. EA releases three such packs a year to meet the demands of Sims players eager to expand, evolve and personalise the virtual worlds they create."The success of The Sims has generated a number of online communities committed to the game and eager to share content they have created inside the game," said Nancy Smith, the EA global president for The Sims label. "As a result, we know not only players' passion for creating their own content but their desire to interact with brands. It's an environment in which players like to blur the line between the digital and real world."The Ikea UK marketing manager, Anna Crona, added that the Sims tie-up fitted neatly with the brand's current marketing line, that home is the most important place in the world."For Ikea, The Sims 2 represents a media channel. This is a great channel for us to reach young and young at heart," Crona said. The Ikea deal comes a year after EA announced a partnership with another Swedish company, H&M, which allowed Sims 2 players to dress the characters they create in the fashion retailer's clothes as well as entering a competition to create new designs. Shortlisted entries were showcased throughout last summer in a series of virtual catwalk shows. In its first year, sales of the H&M Fashion software pack reached 1m. EA also struck a deal with Ford to enable Sims players' characters to own a Focus or Mustang. To date, 2.7m Ford add-ons have been sold.Smith said she hoped the partnership with Ikea would lead to an H&M-style interactive design competition to be staged later this year. With UK games industry turnover now outstripping film box office receipts, brand owners' interest in games as an advertising medium is growing fast, according to Mark Boyd, head of content at advertising agency BBH, which is exploring in-game advertising for a number of leading brands.Until now, most activity has fallen into two categories: relatively unsophisticated in-game billboard-style advertising and traditional sponsorship, Boyd said. However, he added that the EA/Ikea deal showed the potential for deeper and more subtle integration of game and brand."The games industry has been built on high street sales rather than advertising revenue so it's not surprising many companies have been slow to evolve in-game advertising. This, however, is now beginning to change," said Boyd. "Consumers aren't up for paying premium prices on products for ever. While the games industry might now seem to be riding high with little need for advertising, this will change as they embrace brands' potential to underwrite games' high development costs and lower retail prices."

Sorry if it's already been posted!

Hehe there's some cute stuff, I like that little heart with hands on one of the screenshots!
I probably won't go run out and buy it though like most stuff packs, but I might get it eventually.

I really want this SP. I normally don't buy them, actually I didn't buy the ones I have. They were birthday and christmas gifts. This one I may actually go buy myself.  I love items for clutter, and these look cool.  Sure hope they include the freetime and pets functions for interaction. You all know EA!

LOL! ^^  I wonder why Ikea felt they needed to advertise thru the game? They are very popular where I live, the parking lots are always full. Even in this bad economy in the U.S.  Oh well, I will enjoy decorating my sims houses with it!

Why do they keep making this? Why can't they just stop and have all their focus on The Sims 3 so that we don't have to see all the bugs and mistakes we've seen in The Sims 2?
Sorry for being negative. :eh:

Think the furniture will break as easy on there as it does in real life?

This one doesn't really jump out at me.  not like the others have done

Now I've seen some screenshots (thanks AlbinoBambi!) I might change my mind about this Stuff Pack.  Sure the furniture looks OK, but nothing that isn't out there with CC downloads.  I probably will get it (I'm a Sims completist) but for me it's only an average SP.

That's the only thing bad about Ikea furniture, it's not very kid friendly. I just got a TV stand. It holds a 32 inch. Perfect, I liked that it had drawers under it and louvered doors that close and give it the appearance of a dresser. I'm using it in my computer room. I haven't had time to clutter up the drawers yet, so my grandson got the brilliant idea to use one for a chair. lol He weighs just 40 pounds, opened the drawer and climbed in it. The whole front of the drawer split in half. Now I have to dig out my husband's clamps and wood glue so he can try and fix it for me. That seems to be the biggest problem I have with their furniture is the wood will crack long ways on the board, instead of in the width like thin boards usually do. Strange. What funny though is you know the cheap thin wood they use in the bottom of drawers? It held his weight. Oh well, I still like their furniture, and they have great prices on things. :)

They're popular where I live, too - especially for students. I'm renting a room in an appartment, and she who owns it mostly decorate with IKEA stuff...

Hmmm?, not sure I should advertise another Sim site - but here goes...

If you want some Ikea furniture now, 'Manga_Moon' has created some nice pieces to download over at 'Mod The Sims2' - well worth a look!. ;)

They should really stop doing any more stuff packs. Why not put it together with Kitchen&Bath stuff pack? It's furniture after all. I mean give us more stuff together. If I have to reinstall it is gonna be crazy - around 14 datadiscs together. That said I love to see Ikea stuff coming into Sims2
