Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: Website Information

Yeah, it seems that it's been abandoned alright. The Google cache pages are still up for now, though, so you still may have a chance to grab whatever it is you're looking for on her site. What I'd suggest you do if you really need something off of the website is to use Google to navigate through the cache pages while you still can. If you have the ability to right-click on a link and copy it's url location, enter it into Google's search field and it should bring up the page info. Once you click on "Cache", you've got yourself a ticket into the site. The download links are still good, since I'm also in the process of navigating the cache of the site myself and backing up a list of links to her content while I'm at it, but there's no guarantee how long these cache pages will remain up since there's not to much info on when exactly GP's site went down. Hope that helps you. ETA: The site seems to be back up now. I was mistaken earlier, since the last post that was made on her site happened to be last week in fact, so I'm glad to see she's still around and ok.

Okay, vandal... I'm kind of mad that you re-edited your post to add hotlinked images again after you've been warned twice (by a site administrator of all people) to not hotlink images and had those previous links removed. Since you can't be bothered to even click the Sticky link to read it, here it is in rare form: ETA 10/17/10: Just to sum up and elaborate a little on what Joy has posted above, since some people still have no idea how they are hotlinking to images: Q: What is hotlinking exactly?
A: Posting links to files or images that load from a different server/website location that is not your own (without consent of the original owner or service). Q: Why is hotlinking bad?
A: Hotlinking is a form of theft. The owner of the original site/image account/server that the files are hosted on would have to put up with unexpected bandwidth spikes each time a page with links to their content is loaded... and for those who have image accounts that push hard on the maximum bandwidth available per month, it's a pain to find out that images have been directly linked to. (This also affects those who view the images in a way... everyone knows the "bandwidth exceeded" replacements are not very appealing to look at.) In the end, it's the owner who would have to pay for the damages caused by hotlinks, and it also has potential to cause a conflict between the site owners and this site over the issue. (Something that everyone would rather not have to deal with at all.)Q: How do I know if I'm doing this?
A: You'll know if your hotlinking by two main signs: - The link automatically starts downloading a file upon being clicked.
- The url of the file or image posted is copied directly from someone else's website, server, or image hosting account without permission. In the case of images, this also means with or without image tags. (Why without also? Without the tags, it becomes just another run-of-the-mill hyperlink. See the first "Q" and previous bullet for further clarification.)
Q: How do I avoid it? The only reason I hotlinked before was because I don't know how to upload the images I have to share!
A: There are several places you can go for your uploading needs: Image HostingTinypic - Instant Upload/Optional registration, (reCAPTCHA entry upon upload to verify you as an actual person and not a bot) Tinypic no longer allows international links, therefore it is useless for people outside of the US and Canada. Personally, I no longer recommend this as a reliable uploading source if you want everyone else who is located outside of those areas to view your images. Better alternatives are offered below.
- Imageshack - Instant Upload/Optional registration
- Imgur - Instant Upload/Optional Registration
- ImageBanana - (German) Optional Registration
- EZPicShare - No Registration
- Photobucket - Registration Required
- Flickr - Registration with Yahoo ID Required
A myriad of others are also available. For more image hosting choices, here is a list of links for free image hosting. Blue text to add emphasis on what you're doing wrong. Trust me, it's a simple fix to not copy the url/link of someone else's pictures and post them here. That's still hotlinking. Use one of the image hosting services linked in the post, upload the image there, and share that link/picture that site gives you instead.

I am overly pissed at this. I apologize for that unfortunate incident, to anyone that has seen that. This situation has clearly gone too far, and whoever is behind all of this needs to DIAF. Seriously... ETA: Everything should be back in order. Again, we at the Oasis apologize to everyone for being subjected to that ugly mess. Honestly, these recent hackings have gotten way beyond out of control, and something needs to be done about it.

Not intending to offend, but just to offer a helpful FYI... I wish I had known by the title what you were looking for exactly, because I was just browsing Sims2Carsource the other day when I saw this topic in the forum view. Is it possible for you to edit your title so that others that may be looking for the same thing can check for answers here, also? And just to elaborate a little on what Paden asked you: I know you're happy about finally finding it, but yes, it is a site rule requesting people avoid doing so: No leet/text speak - eg: Lets c whu cn m@ke teh most complic@ted l33t spek ev@rr is not acceptable. A lot of users here have English as a second language and have a hard enough time understanding as it is. To that end, please make an effort to use proper grammar and spelling. We don't expect everyone to have perfect textbook English, but the clearer you are, the better you will be understood, and the more response you'll get to help questions, or any post in general. We are not the grammar police here and understand typos happen and not everyone is a perfect speller, but if you're not using periods, commas, capital letters and a reasonable semblance of accurate spelling out of pure laziness, we will call you on it.
While we're on the subject of punctuation, etc, please do not type in all caps. It's bad forum etiquette and viewed as shouting. Underlined for emphasis. It's not really just on Insim, it's anywhere on the internet. Some people let it slide, while others don't for various reasons. It's only requested here in order to help ease translation issues for non-English based users, and for those who actually have a vision problems when it comes to differentiating words in all caps or all lowercase on any size font. (...this coming from a person with 20/120 vision...) Just to make it short: If you follow through with that rule, it's easier on the eyes of those that would like to help you out either now or in the future. (BTW, thanks for asking about the Ram, because I had forgotten about getting the recolors of Trezilla's Ram back in my "cleaned" folder... not that it's going to do me much good since I don't have a game to play at the moment.)

I believe the outfit is by Rapgirl, if I'm not mistaken. I've seen similar outfits by her around in a couple of updates threads around the community, but I've never come across any download links quite yet. I'll be sure to keep an eye out if I do.

I've actually seen and downloaded the helmet Pixykid is looking for, which also included the oxygen mask, and was an actual hair instead of an accessory... unfortunately, the site where it came from (Sims 2 Libido/ Japasims) is completely defunct, and I haven't found any traces of an alternate link for the download at this point. I also no longer have the actual file on my hard drive, either. The motorcycle helmet miros mentioned can be found here. There's also another one by Bipsoulle. ("Accessoires", p.5) There's also a Halo "helmet"/hair that could suffice for adult males.

SavannahStar, next time when you need to share an image that has content you would like to find in it, please be sure to save the image and upload it to an image hosting site. That image you had in your previous post was a hotlink from Lasky's image account, and we don't condone hotlinking in any form. Make sure to read up about it in this sticky so you'll know what you can do to prevent another incident with hotlinking.

It would probably be a bit more helpful to most folks if you have a visual example of the step-by-step process in how to do this, since this is meant to be a tutorial for those that don't know how to start things off. Even supplying links to other tutorials you'd recommend for turning images into brushes would be most helpful to people who don't have the slightest idea how to do this and would love to learn how. (ex. something like this, though the video is mostly for GIMP users) Other than that, it's a pretty good tip for those who already have some knowledge on what to do.
