i downloaded somestuff from modthesims for my sims 3 game but im having problems intalling them. ive tryed all the guids on diffrent websites but none are off any help. :confused:

does anyone know how to help me coz this problem is driving me up the wall! :-X

what did you download?

did u make a folders,Mods and package folder, these to folders are pose to be capital "M"(Mod) and "P"(Package)folder.
if u didn't unzip the files, try WinRar or 7zip.

Did you consult the people over at MTS about having trouble installing their downloads? Your best bet is that you'll get a better answer if you actually ask the people on that site rather than turning to other sites first... not to sound "snippy" or anything, but that whatever happens on other sites and problems with their content is something we can't fully help you with at times.  ;)

Besides, the have a FAQ (http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_Sims_3_Package_Files) up already related to installing their content if you haven't checked it out yet.  ;D

i have tryed all of those sergestions and no mattter what they wont show up in the game :mad:
i dont know if im doing something wrong but when i looked into it on modthesims website it just led to the same stuff telling me to put them in mod/pakage.

the downloads are some new skins and a mod the takes the bler thing away. ;D

do u have Winrar or 7zip? I use 7zip to open files

sowdenr that stuff that you are tring to install are they Patterns?,if so do not install then take out the Mod/package folder it is them in the Mod/Package program that is not working,i had that same mod/package folder in the game and it would not let the game Load at all

Gona try and simplifie this.
you will need to get the File Resorces.cfg
Place it in C:\program files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3
(do Not use or replace the one located in C:\program files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin)
Now you'll need to make a folder Named Mods. It will be located in C:\program files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3.
Now inside Mods Make a folder Named packages. and open it. So now it'll be like this Opened
C:\program files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages
Thats where all new package files Go.

I am not having any problems with the items I downloaded from MTS.  I used the method stated in the above post's.  The only problem I had because I have vista is I cannot unrar directly into the package folder is i have to cut and paste it.  The custom content works beautifully.  The patterns, mods go into that folder.  The skins go into documents/the sims 3/SavedSims, download houses to the desktop and double click they self install.  You may be doing all of this just thought I would reiterate.  Good luck.

now I know what to prepare when I get my copy this weekend. this is not hard as it looks.

do you have vista 64 bit??
I do and I had the same problem I had to just add some additional info to the resource.cfg file

Here is mine:

Priority 501

DirectoryFiles  Mods/Files/... autoupdate

Priority 500

PackedFile Mods/Packages/Hacks/*.package

Priority 499

PackedFile Mods/Packages/Patterns/*.package

Priority 498

PackedFile Mods/Packages/Skins/*.package

then just make the sub folders and add to it what you and how you want it and it works for me and a few other's with the same problem. This may or may not be the solution but it can't hurt to try.

I have the same prob.. Care i don't get what you did,i drag and drop should i cut and pase?

for thoes of you that is works for i aske you thes,: PLEASE if you have a youtude account or can make a traler on how to do it,  help thoes how can't do it.

just copy and paste it into the already existing resource.cfg file. then make sure your folders are set up as stated in the above config. if you don't need or use all that are needed just take that part of the code out.

is that with the monkey? if so i have it but it won't work. i may have done something worng, i'm not so good at reading.

no installer monkey I am talking about manually putting the files were they are needed and changing Delphy's resource.cfg a tad his does not work with vista 64 bit

this is what his says:

copy and paste the one I gave you in above post into the resource.cfg file. make sure it's in the root sims 3 folder.

sorry, thought you said you had vista. guess it was someone else there are tutorials that show exactly what files need to go where. I suggest you go look at them they are all over MTS..
I cannot help you any further if you do not even know what operating system you have?

plus if you look through stuff at MTS for sims 3 there are more in certain posts with screen shots etc that other's have taken.

got the linkes downloded everthing they siaded to downlode. the free town workes, i konw how to downlode it just won't install. they sad to 2-click on it but that gives a earrer.and the resource.cfg is a papper that linkes  to the web.
i have an HP and my sytems is good for any downlode it just won't work. i have Windows

tanis191798 the Free Town and all of the Clothing and Objects and Sims are all self Installing,download them away from the game,go to Documents put a Folder there Name it Sims 3 it will go something like:


Go to Document
make A Sims 3 Folder
(1)Sims Folder:Put all of the Sims here
(2)Lots Folder:Put all of the Lots here
(3)Objects Folder:Put all of the Objects here
(4)Vehicles Folder:Put all of the Vehicles here

Then go to each folder you will see a Sims3pack ICON press it and they will install themselfs,does that help any?

are you saying in the Document make folders withe the simepack in it and it will donwlode to the game?

What I was trying to say was download the Items into any Folder that you make in the Documents folder,once  you have finished downloading.press each of the Sims3pack item button and they will install themself's and now they are in the game,is that any better

i downloaded the monkey helper it installed my downloads for me ;D

is the downlodes suppose to have a sime3pack? and where did you put the monkey to make it worke, also my computer when i downlodes it won't lest me downlode it dreackley into the place i had the drag and drop, would that be whay it is not working?

After you download the monkey installer from here  (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=344611)

Then extract it to your desktop. Double click it to install. Monkey installer is a program that has to be installed. After you install Monkey installer then you can just extract any Sims 3 package files you download to a folder on your pc. It doesn't have to be a specially named folder just something you can remember.

After extracting the zip or rar files to that folder then just right click on each file. You will have extra menu choices of where to put the package in the game. Just left click on one of those location options the Monkey installer does the rest.

If you download from the EA store then those files are installed using the game launcher. Not the Monkey installer.

You rock Zordac  :D now its in the files but it dosn't show in the lunch?  it's not in the game how do i install?

If you installed it with the Monkey installer it won't show up in the game launcher. Only the items you download from the EA store show up there. You have to right click the package file and left click the destination you want the file to go to. There are 4 choices and I don't remember what they are. One of them is hacks I forget the others.

Ok. I'm not really sure what you mean by there in files.

Here is what the package files should look like after you extract them. If you have the Monkey installer installed correctly then the icons on the package files will look the same as the ones in the picture. The Monkey installer will setup the sub folders for custom content on your hard drive where they need to be. One thing I did not install was the resource.cfg file that came with the blur remover. I already had that file in my game folder. The blur remover works fine with out the one that came with it.

When you have the files extracted then right click on them. A menu will open. The file I have selected in the next picture is a game mod so I am going to install it in the game hacks folder from the menu by left clicking on that selection. Repeat the process for every .package file you have down loaded. It's up to you which folder you put them in really.

they get put in falies. like a house will be in a lots falider.thats when i go to the place where it shoulde be,

I'm sorry. I really don't know what problem it is you are having. The files you down load are either a .package file or a sims3pack. The .package file you install with the Helper Monkey. The sims3pack files you just double click to install. When I install a house that is a sims3pack I don't see another folder named lots.

Both file types show up in my game after installing them this way.

I feel so stuped it wores, it must have all a lone. sorry you helped me out a lot thanks. :rolleyes:

Didn't Delphie make the helper monkey compatible with Numenors' scriptorium, if so I would look him up on MTS2 and find his mod 'the scriptorium' it installs mods, stairs and fireplaces amoungst other things automatically. Worth a shot. ;)
