Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Just wondering if a House lot can be changed

Well, I do have a mod that I thought would change the graves assignment, but it doesn't; so I'm very seriously thinking of getting at least Uni and possibly Nightlife to flesh out the game-most downloads now require at least those two, to even install some houses or sims. I don't really want to screw up my game, so I will very carefully remove any and all CC that I think might be borked when (and if) I get another expansion. The biggest problem I've had in even considering this is the fiasco unleashed by Eaxis with the Securom thing-I do not want to lose my DVD player, or any other computer part because EA has gotten paranoid about copyright theft (which I will admit is a problem) to the point of making their games almost unplayable in some instances. I don't know if they changed the security after the first three (from what I know, they did), but why take the chance? After hearing all the horror stories about this issue, is it any wonder that I've been a little loath to get any more expansions? EAxis has itself to blame for losing so many customers by doing such a stupid stunt-word of mouth will kill a product faster than you can throw it. BV has probably lost a few hundred thousand fans because of the issue, with thousands more just dumping the latest one in the garbage can.

Well, it was a thought...Guess it will have to wait until I get another expansion pack...if I do. I've heard so much about the problems all the expansions have given the game, I'm extremely leery of getting one-besides, the game is working perfectly and I'd hate to lose any of the CC I've put in-all that time and work blown to pieces with any expansion would get me very mad. Pretty sad when a game can't be enjoyed without being concerned about the effects of additional stuff in it, especially since it was designed to be added on to by the games' creators! I do have an inkling of an idea of how to work around the limitation of the game..I'll report back to let you know if it works, with another mod I have.

Just to update: I went back into the lot, and did a check of the lot's free will status from the game options..wouldn't you know it, but it was set to "off"! No wonder nobody moved without my say-so. Stupid me! I'd gotten so used to the setting being "on" that I forgot to check that. Everyone's back to normal, driving me crazy. Thanks for the help.

Ok, here's my dilemma: I would like to start Pleasantview's first community cemetery, using the graves on the Goth house lot (it's getting crowded in there)-by tearing down the house, (empty, of course, of sims), save it in the lots bin, and then reload it as community lot. Is this possible? Any answer would be nice-I'd like to have a haunted cemetery, with a picnic area...visit your relatives and have a chat with them! I have only the base game, btw.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Trouble installing base game

In answer to the second part of your question-there is no legal way to buy the game online via download. You have to buy the actual physical game to install it. It is probably just a computer hang up that is causing the problem.

Oh, I'd say it's been about two weeks, in Sim time-but I haven't given him a lady to introduce to-perhaps I ought to make one for him...he doesn't grieve over it, because I removed him and his daughter from the lot-it was killing people, and in their state, I couldn't see that happening to them in the wake of the disasters. It was bad enough when his wife died, and then the neighbor! I'd be knocked for a loop too, watching that happen. The Goth Mansion is just so terrible for life expectancy! I will see if one of my other single lady sims is interested enough to talk to him-she's not actively involved with anyone right now.

This is not a technical problem, just a minor irritation at best: one of my sims, John Burb (one of the originals in Pleasantview) is extremely unmotivated or uninspired to do anything. Backstory-he's lost his wife due to a ghost, he's seen a neighbor die from the ghosts scaring her to death...it's like he's deeply depressed and in a deep funk. He didn't used to be like this before these happenings, and now he's just so pathetic. My question is: is there any way to re-inspire him to get going? I've changed his aspirations, his housing, his career, and still he just acts like a lump of dirt...I've used every known mod and cheat to get something going, but he's so inert! I've thought about killing him off, but he still has Lucy to raise, and because she's still getting over the death of her mother, she's pretty tramautized as well, but getting over it. I guess he's going to have to meet new women or something, because he's on the short list for a suicide pretty soon if that doesn't work! Anyone else have this problem with their characters? If so, how did you get them re-animated to life?

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Moving my game to another computer (with downloads)
|
on: January 03, 2008, 05:17:40 pm

I did this just a while ago-from one desktop to another-and the way I moved my downloads and neighborhoods was to use a flash drive to store what I wanted immediately from the old computer to the new one. Because the flash drive is small (121mg) I had to do this in several stages, but I had everything organized in both computers to do it easily. I installed the game on the new one and had it running properly before I did any additions to it. Make sure you have your original download folders, in case your downloads in the older computer don't work as the file used. Of course if you burn your stuff on a disk, you can pack more in. I wish I had done that, but I'd run out of disks to burn! If you do burn them, organize them to be recognizable when you use them of course-by naming them as "hacks", "furniture", etc. Otherwise than that, good luck!

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / What ever happens...

To children who are taken away by the social worker? I've just had two (twins) taken away from one of my sims (Angela Pleasant, for heaven's sake!) and I wondered where they go, and if they show up as townies in time..I know there's no way for them to be reunited with their birth families, but I wonder who they do end up with? Anyone have answers to those burning questions?

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / How to break up with someone?
|

You have to make the couple you want to fight-by letting their relationship self-destruct in any way possible; when it gets so bad that all they can do is "fight" then the option to "break up" shows up. Irritate, and annoy seem to start it off.
