You Should Play the GuitarYou're very independent - both in spirit and in the way you learn. You can teach yourself almost anything, even if it makes your fingers bleed. You're not really the type to sit patiently through a music lesson - or do things by the book. It's more your style to master the fundamentals and see where they take you. Highly creative and a bit eclectic, you need a wide range of music to play. You could emerge as a sensitive songwriter... or a manic rock star. Your dominant personality characteristic: being rebellious Your secondary personality characteristic: tenacity What Musical Instrument Should You Play?uh....i already play guitar as well as drums, piano, clarinet, ukelele and harmonica.

Ohh and hey, hey boo-boo! Poor Yogi just couldn't pass up those Pic-a-nic baskets wow, good times. I hear they're making a Yogi bear movie. I forgot the ranger's name...hmm anyone remember? i think it was Ranger Smith...idk.... i mostly watch VH1 Classic these days, along with: MythBusters CSI: Crime Scene Investigation...even though not as much anymore. it's not the same without Grissom House Man vs. Food Dirty Jobs The Simpsons King of the Hill and whatever's on the Boomerang channel heck, i remember when Scooby Doo was popular among my friends, everyone liked either Shaggy, Scooby, Fred, or Daphne. don't get me wrong, i did like Shaggy and Scooby, but i felt i was the only one who really liked Velma. in my opinon, she's a very underrated character on that show...

Aw, heartless, poor you! There's always birthdays - you can make all your guests where fancy dress! Ok, that's annoying! I go to a girls school so you can imagine the drama involved, and I can relate to you. I am definitely going this year since it's my last year at high school. And the style is for everyone to get a fake tan and look completely orange, despite it being Winter in June (when the ball is) which is stupid! Who wants to look like an oompa loompa I ask you? Also, is it so bad to go without a date? I don't have a boyfriend, and I don't want to go with some random. Being in a girls school presents these kind of problems! you don't have to have a boyfriend or some random guy date in order to go to prom. if all else fails, see if you can gather a group of single friends and go, that way you can still enjoy prom and not feel guilty about going alone! and besides, most of my senior band friends always go together on in groups on prom night and they still have fun, with or without dates! prom advice from a guy? wow, i've seen too waaaay many eighties teen movies....

(plus i was pretty obsessed with that song at the time ) and my avatar? the cover art for another one of my favorite songs ("Almost Paradise") from my second favorite 80's movie (Footloose (Fast Times At Ridgemont High is my all-time favorite)).

Simmers' Paradise / Sims Stories / Chapter 1: A Terrifying Message
|
on: January 26, 2009, 11:41:12 pm

I sat on my hospital bed. It had been only a day since Dr. Green had told me to stay in the hospital to run some tests. Why am I in the hospital? Two days ago, I suffered a really bad heart attack. I couldn't move, breathe, nothing. It was unlike anything I had been through. Luckily, the doctors had saved me before things got really bad. I was reading when Dr. Green came into my room. I could tell by the expression on his face that it was most likely not good news. Then again, he always looked gloomy, with over twenty-five years of medical practice under his belt, he was probably looking forward to retirement. I put my book down. "Come on in, doc," I said. "Is there somethin' wrong?" "I'm afraid it's worse than we thought, Lance," Dr. Green did not sound happy. "Well, what's the problem?" "I was looking over your test results. They're not good. Mr. Darwin, you have Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, or HCM. It's a fatal disease in athletic men like yourself. Your heart has gotten worse since the heart attack, and unfortunately, there aren't very many treatment options. I regret having to inform you this, but you have about one year left to live." I was shocked. "You sure? There has to be some mistake!" "I'm sorry Lance. There's nothing we can do." Dr. Green left the room while I just sat there shocked. One year left to live. Twelve months. Fifty-two weeks. Three hundred and sixty-five days. How would I tell Gretchen? George? Rose? Jeremy? All my friends? How? I was discharged from the hospital the next day. I was still shocked from the message Dr. Green gave me. Only one year left.

Simmers' Paradise / Sims Stories / One Song Glory
|

my first story on insim. it's about a man who tries to write one last perfect song before his time comes. comments welcome. Prologue My name is Lance Darwin. I'm twenty-eight years old and couldn't ask for a better life, even though it wasn't always like this. My parents died in a helicopter crash when I was only two years old. My uncle George and aunt Rose raised me and my brothers since I was three. I still have contact with George and Rose, but I haven't seen my brothers Mike and Harry since I was fourteen. So if they're still alive is beyond me. I'm in a great relationship with my girlfriend, Gretchen Smith. Like me, she is an artistic soul; she is a painter. We always use the old Chinese philosphy:"There is a poem in every painting, and a painting in every poem". That usually means, I write songs from some of her paintings, and she makes art from listening to the songs I write. I've known Gretchen since we were in junior high and it wasn't till a few years ago when we really started getting serious. I know that George and Rose are proud of my feelings for Gretchen, but since they also have no contact with my brothers, I think the only thing the want from me is to just marry Gretchen and start a family with her. As strange as this sounds, I'm not really surprised that both George and Rose, as well as Gretchen's parents, wants us to be one. But I'm just not ready for that yet. And neither is Gretchen. I'm a songwriter. I love my job. My dream is to a rock musician. So far, I haven't gotten any good songs down yet, but I'm still working on it! My uncle George is a real great help with some of my songwriting. He's a retired Navy chief and sure looks like one, but he's really a kind, sensitive soul. In fact, he even sends me some of his poems and tells me that they would make some great song lyrics. This is one of my friends, Jeremy Turner. He's also one of my great songwriting partners. He also writes some of my lyrics and even makes arrangements of my music for concert and orchestra bands. All three of us, me, George, and Jeremy, are one great songwriting team. Yeah, life was great until now. I might not have much longer to live.

so today in math, this one girl was in another student's seat. the teacher tells to to go back to her regular seat and the girl says she doesn't feel like moving cuz she's wearin' boots. but in my crazy little brain, i heard "boobs", and i say, very loudly, "so what? you women wear boobs everyday, that's no excuse to not move!" needless to say, the girl looked shocked and everyone around me is laughing, even the teacher!

today while i was in world history, i saw this thing on my teacher's desk and tought it was a electric pencil sharpener. so i get up from my desk and try to sharpen my pencil. i tell the teacher that the sharpener ain't workin, and she says "well duh, it's not working, Ryan! you're sharpening you pencil on my lamp!" i swear, i thought it was a sharpener; the head of the lamp was all the way down!
