Title: Installing sims2 - Solved - antivirus software component still running!
Post by: adalita on March 04, 2008, 03:42:13 pm
ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
Hey it is coming up with a huge problem.... when I get up to choosing where i want to install it to it is says NEXT so I click it and it comes up with:
Are you sure you want to quit the installation?

I can't install it!

NEW PROBLEM:
I got all of it uploaded to freetime - then went to work when i got home I loaded up freetime again and it came up please insert correct cd bon voyage.  I know that it installed freetime as I played 5 mins of it in the morning.  So I uninstalled it and went to reinstall it and it came up with the same error.

So I uninstalled all the games and now it is doing it with the Sims 2 cd again!

I am really about to cry!

I have followed all the instruction on how to manually uninstall and then checked the registry files, I tried to do the setup in safe mode, which still came up with the error. I have Deleted all related sims 2 folders. I did get the sims 2 to work but when I got up to installing freetime it did not install... So I thought it might be the way I installed the expansion packs and stuff packs and was going to install them in order:

sims 2 - then patch
University - Patch
Night life - patch
OFB - patch
pets - patch
seasons - patch
holiday party pack
glamour life
celebration
H& M
Bon voyage - patch
teen style stuff
freetime

BUT now I can't load anything again.

I have checked the start up menu - No sims 2 or EA games at all
Checked program files- no Sims 2 or Ea files/ games
gone to my user file (premium) no Ea / sims 2 stuff
Checked the registry files - no files according to the list given on EA.

I am really getting annoyed by this glitch / problem!

Thanks to anyone who reads all that and can help!

There should be a line saying "This will install the game on such and such a drive  with the name.." you're supposed to press ok,it installs and then it goes to "NEXT" arrow. There are 4 disks in the game, and the install does prompt you to put each one in, at a time.

VERY BIZARRE!
I just finished taking screen shots of the problem and was adding it to my EA technical question when I went through the steps again to write it down properly and it worked.

it then said adding X number of MB to your disc and then I clicked okay and now it is installing.

Usually the game installs on the default drive of your computer-that is, the main drive you use. On mine, it is drive C. You do not get the ability to change the default drive unless you have two active drives at a time (and that is quite a challenge-most computers cannot handle more than one active drive at a time).
Glad to know that it finally installed.

Perhaps someone who has all the ep's and has installed Free Time can help you-I am out of ideas-thinking it was just a simple install problem. Sounds like FT has bugged your computer to smithereens. I'm sorry I can't help you..but perhaps someone else can-and if you really want to bother, you could message EA about this-they're supposed to be "geniuses" when it comes to this stuff.

EA told me to uninstall all games, delete the registry .... The first time I didn't install freetime just bon voyage.  I think it a problem with files hidden on my PC... I have looked everywhere.

all it was was Avast antivirus after reading the other thread I thought I might try it (even though I did that this morning with the same problem still happening) I am also doing a manual install too!
