My sister would like a mod that, when you light a fireplace, it doesn't go out by itself, and to add an option to turn it off. Do yot think you could make that for her, please?

Yeah, but she wants them to burn forever until she turns them off. She doesn't want them to go out by themselves at all...

i too would like this mod  ;D   especially  for comm lots an hotels, etc   places were you normally wouldnt have to light your own fire

i was just over at The Sims 2 Workshop  an seen the "longer fires" mod by Carrigon but i could only find it in pets section an it listed as only working for pets  :-\

Sounds like something I would love to have too! Yeah, Carrigon does have that mod at her site, but it isn't what I wanted like you guys.

I'm so glad you're looking into this, Squinge! 2cheer  With Carrigon's mod in, I had a Sim start a campfire.  The cat, which wasn't due to have her babies for another three days, gave birth immediately!  So I exited without saving and this time, did not have my Sims start a campfire.  The cat then gave birth normally. 1blink

Some of Carrigon's mods can be really odd at times if combined with other mods and affect the game in ways not intended by the mods or whatnot.

I tried her mod out once before but I didn't like it. I guess I did want an option to turn the fireplace or campfire on or off.

Never tried Carrigon's mod for this. Then again, I don't think I've ever use any of her mods. They always did more than what I really needed at the time.

...although a certain shall-not-be-named hack of hers would've been handy for when I had Squingy's self-sim living in a penitentiary-like setting.  >:D:P

Speaking of which, this is all the more reason for the Dork to get off his duff and make this hack for us.

I have checked into this and it should be possible but I would have to either clone an existing fireplace or extract the pie menus from all the fireplaces in the game(which would be a pain in the arse, lol) because there isn't a global pie menu for it.

That would be a pain in the arse to clone the pie menus from all of the Maxis fireplaces. What about campfires or are they different?

Personally, I wouldn't mind it if you cloned an existing fireplace -- I'm pretty flexible when it comes to what fireplace I use for my houses. Also, if you did that, wouldn't you be able to simply replace the GMDC of the cloned fireplace with the GMDC of the other fireplaces to make multiple fireplaces with this hacked option? It's not ideal, but I think it would be less of a pain in the arse to do than extracting the pie menus from all the fireplaces. I wouldn't mind cloning your hacked fireplace and replacing the GMDCs with the GMDCs of the other Maxis fireplaces myself if that's all it needs. ;D

No I would have to clone every fireplace because they don't use a global pie menu & the camp fires I could make global Chaavik if you want :)
