Title: Missing D3DERR
Post by: Consuela on September 06, 2007, 04:26:21 pm
Can someone help me?
After 15 minutes I get an error: missing D3DERR.
Then the game closes itself.
I tried too find out what it can be but I am not so handy with this.

The message did come back but after an hour playing.
I controlled my whole system, but that is ok.
I am going to reinstall the game.

Have you a Nvidia graphic card ? With it, I had a D3Derror when suddenly the game ceased to answer and crashed (despite of reinstallation). Now I haven't such a card but I've read that there is a patch for Nvidia users with Sims 2 problems. ;)

Hi Mihura,

I have checked the Nvidia site, but I can't find a patch for Nvidia users with Sims 2 problems.
I reinstalled the whole game, but I didn't play it yet.
I will like to hear from you if you remember where you saw that message.
Thanks anyway.

Hi Consuela

It was this summer... See this news at S2C : http://www.sims2community.com/2007/07/11/nvidia-driver-update

A blog by MaxoidSam : http://bbs.thesims2.ea.com/community/bbs/messages.php?threadID=06c442234ffa7adb4557aaac3804ab89&directoryID=21&startRow=1&openItemID=item.21,item.61,item.41,item.127,item.23#0f96f0db5a9a764180a58842a7683dea

But this update don't fix laptops apparently. I hope you can get a more stable game in future. :)

I hope Euromutt. I know how it can be hard to have these crashes without any apparent reason. Good luck. :)

I went to the sims2 homepage and search for the error.
They have an answer......
They say I have a Pirated copy of EA software.........
Sounds dumb, because I bought it in the same shop that I bought the rest of my sim games.

So you have installed the beta driver from Nvidia and still have issues with Bon Voyage ? Too bad. :(  And I wonder why a directX error message would be relate too a pirate copy of EA software ! :sad3:

Sorry Consuela. I can't tell you more on this problem. Try to wait maybe a future driver from Nvidia (it's a beta one for now) or a patch from EA.You can too be stubborn and try to explain to EA support that you haven't pirate their games. ;)

This is most likely due to them changing to Secur rom as their protection now. Hate that they done this as Secur rom has caused issues for others even when they have totally legal games Not just with BV but other games as well for the computer.

Do you have any emulation software installed? Alcohol or Daemon tools etc?
If so possibly turning those off or if they are not used even uninstalling.
I know they had a topic in the EA tech help area on how to turn off emulation. I use Daemon tools(No not for my Sims games All my Ep's are bopugt and paid for as is the base game) and have it turned off so that it is red and not green in the tray. I also am sure to exit out of it when not using it. Which is usually most the time.  I have not had any issues.

Good luck

Hi Phoenix,

I don't have any emulation software installed, so that can't be it.
I only have my pc for my work and the sims 2.
But thank you for trying to help me out.

There is a Problem with Nivida cards and Norton AV running together with The sims 2 Try turning off Norton Completly then running the game. Seems The 2 programs use alot of Pagefile area and this causes a game crash. But disconect from the Internet if turning off norton.

Hi Razamataz,
I don't have Norton, but AVG.
This doesn't take much space like Norton does.
I do turn off AVG when I play the game, so that is not the problem.
Thanks anyway...
