Sims 2 Community Downloads / Women / The Paintings - Catarina de Bragança
on: November 28, 2006, 09:53:09 am
Yeah... you guessed it... another painting. And this one also has a nice story behind it AND it's from my own country  Catarina de Bragança was the daughter of D. Luísa de Gusmão and king D. João IV (1604-1656) of Portugal. Charles II of England saw a portrait and liked her face and eyes. She had beautiful black hair and a sweet face. For the marriage she embarqued the Royal Charles and arrived at Portsmouth with fever and a sore throat, and asked for tea. That request caused a grand turmoil, because tea was not known or used in the court. She also introduced the use of porcelain plates, complaining that the meals always arrived cold because they were still served in gold and silver plates.:naughty: New Amsterdam, founded by the Dutch in 1626, was conquered by the Duke of York, brother of Charles II and became New York in 1664. The surrounding areas were called King’s Country e Queens Country. Queens Country latter became the well known “ Queens” area of New York. Sims 2 Community Downloads / Women / The Paintings - Anne of Cleves
on: November 28, 2006, 09:45:05 am
Hi guess what... another painting  Anne of Cleves, c1539 by Hans Holbein the Younger It was on the basis of this portrait that Henry VIII chose her as his wife. Holbein was clearly capable of much better work, and so the question must be - why did he produce such a lifeless portrait? Clearly, he was a court painter but he was also a diplomat. He had very little time to produce the portrait and had to show his prepatory sketches and the finished work to the duke of Cleves and his courtiers. If he felt a lifelike portrait of Anne would be unflattering, he would have felt pressure to change it - hence, the anonymous portrait he did produce. But he was also forced to consider his role as court painter to Henry VIII. Holbein knew that a misleading or false portrait would anger the English king. Forced into a diplomatic corner, the artist tactfully chose to create an unassuming portrait of a woman neither beautiful nor ugly, respectfully attired and with a modest gaze. He hoped to offend no one - but, of course, Henry VIII felt terribly deceived and Holbein would receive no more important commissions from the king. :sign5: TechicalDetails: Costume Mesh: sim2-fashion.de http://www.sim2-fashion.de/datenbank/include.php?path=content/download.php&contentid=722 Hair Mesh: Hair PrincessLeia Remix - by the great Kavar http://www.insimenator.org/showthread.php?t=29177

Hi ....and another request. I guess I have the requests pretty much sorted  John Collier (1850-1934) -- A Late Pre-Raphaelite Painter and Illustrator After being introduced to Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, Collier attended London's Slade School of Art, studying under Edward Poynter. He delighted in illustrating myth, legend, and literature Based on the painting: Queen Guinevere's Maying A scene from Malory, as recast by Tennyson in his 'Idylls of the King' (1859). In the relevant poem, 'Guinevere', the cheerful pointlessness of a May Day procession quickly leads to something less innocent.... Sims 2 Community Downloads / Women / The paintings - Lawrence's Pinkie
on: November 24, 2006, 04:10:30 pm
Hi This is the other requested painting. Hope you like her! Sir Thomas Lawrence (April 13, 1769 – January 7, 1830), was a notable English painter, mostly of portraits Caroline of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel - the Queen Consort of King George IV - was one of his favourite subjects, and is reputed to have been his lover for a time Among English portrait painters he takes a high place, though not as high as that given to him in his lifetime. Based on the painting: Sarah Barrett Moulton: Pinkie (1794) The young girl was the daughter of a wealthy plantation family in Jamaica, who came to England for her education. Called "Pinkie" by her grandmother who commissioned the portrait, she was only eleven when her likeness was taken. Sadly, Sarah died within a few months of the portrait's completion, probably of tuberculosis. Her younger brother Edward was the father of the poetess Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Hi People asked for it, to go along with the BlueBoy and Pinkie, so here it is. Hope you like him Sir Thomas Lawrence (April 13, 1769 – January 7, 1830), was a notable English painter, mostly of portraits Caroline of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel - the Queen Consort of King George IV - was one of his favourite subjects, and is reputed to have been his lover for a time Among English portrait painters he takes a high place, though not as high as that given to him in his lifetime. Based on the painting: Master Charles William Lambton, 1825 (better known as RedBoy) The best display of Lawrence's work is in the Waterloo Gallery of Windsor, a collection of much historical interest. "Master Lambton," painted for Lord Durham at the price of 600 guineas, is regarded as one of his best portraits This is a simple recolour of a Maxis basic game, so no mesh is needed or expansion

Another painting  Marie-Josephe-Rose Tascher ( Josephine) was married to Napoleon Bonaparte in 1796 Napoleon had great dreams for their future, and his wedding present to Rose — whom he had renamed Josephine — was a gold medallion inscribed with the words "To Destiny." The couple was crowned Emperor and Empress in 1804, and lived peacefully for two years. Josephine died on May 29 1814 of a cold, in the arms of her son Eugene. Napoleon learned of her death via a French journal while in exile on Elba, and stayed locked in his room for two days, refusing to see anyone Costume after a painting by Antoine-Jean Gros Tecnical Details: Mesh All-About-Style http://www.all-about-style.com/themes_regency.html
