EKozki, I'm suspecting that you forgot to merge one layer with the background.
When you're viewing all your layers, is your background just white? because that would mean that you need to merge on of the three other layers with the background-layer, so that there are only 3 layers.

I'm not sure though, but that's my first guess after having some GIMP and avatar-making experience myself.

I'm guessing it's Poalina by Missaldith, if not, it's probably another sim by Missaldith, so you could go trough threads started by her.

Well, my friend borrowed the game from a family member of hers. I played it quite regularly on her laptop, but eventually she had to give the disc back, so we didn't have the game any more.

I had sims 1 at home, but after playing sims 2, that just wouldn't do. So I went and bought the game, and now I have all EP's and SP's because all the stuff they add is just so darn good. xD

I have that first one with the IKEA SP. My brother just moved in with his girlfriend, and I was like: "Oeh, my sims have that couch! You guys have the same closet as my sims! Don't you have this *points at screen with Sims 2 loaded* piece of furniture too?"
Makes shopping at IKEA a lot more fun, lol.

Yep, unfortunately they are. The only ways they can look different are by skin, eyes, eyebrows, hair colour, hair (if you download the right stuff) and outfits. It's kinda boring, really.

Lol, exactly, after hoping that they make me an adult so that there's no school for me anymore, I'd hope and pray that my simmer doesn't turn off free will like I always do, then find a handsome and sweet guy, fall in love, marry him and have lots of babies. Yay for ACR!

Yeah I know.. I plan on getting them, eventually. But I have the most critical fixes that are made by the community already, so for now I'm fine.

Ok so, I indeed couldn't change the shadows until I went into a household. Still can't adjust refresh rate, but I don't care about that anyways. So, feel free to close this thread and thanks for all the help and advice.

 I play the windowed version, because I dislike the fact that with wide screen-proportions, instead of adding screen on the sides, they remove screen on the top and bottom.
If that's it I might just play without shadows though, I'm not sure if I want to play using a smaller window. xD

rwills, I haven't installed any patches yet, because I don't trust EA. xD But I don't think it's any of that, I really think there's just a certain file that I need to replace, but I don't know which file.
I'm not quite sure what video card it is, but I'm positive it is not on the low end. I know for a fact that it can handle it, so all I can think of is that there is some file in your Sims 2 folder that remembers your graphic settings, and since I put my back-up in, it now remembers that my previous pc couldn't handle that. And apparently, it doesn't recognize it's on a new pc.
And no, I'm not running Vista on it, luckily. I hate Vista. ^^
