16  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / is it posible to change the voice of your sims? on: January 19, 2008, 02:01:53 pm
Not that I know of.  The sounds are keyframed to the animations based on the sims age.  You would have to physically replace the offending sound file using SimPE.  There is a field in the character data for voice.  Changing it does not appear to have any effect - maybe a throw back to Sims 1.
17  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Sims can't woohoo on: January 14, 2008, 12:53:49 am
That's a jump bug.  It's caused by having an incompatible mod in you game.  You should update all your mods for Seasons, including the InSIMenator.

Because you were a NITWIT and phailed to read the GIANT STICKY POST at the top of the Site Issues forum entitled: This is **NOT** the InTeenimater Support Forum! and you phailed to RTFM.  Even the non-awesome InTeenimater is too awesome for you.

19  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Stuff Pack Do they mess up my hacks on: November 30, 2007, 10:54:35 pm
Celebration and Glamour Life were based on the Open for Business expansion pack.  For all intents and purposes you can treat them "as-if" you have Open for Business installed.

If you already own Open for Business or any later expansion pack, then this is a non-issue for you.

If you do NOT own Open for Business or any of the later expansions and you install Celebration or Glamour, then this may be an issue for you.  You may need to upgrade your hacks to ones that are compatible with OFB.

NOTE: All of the stuff packs are equivalent to OFB except the new Teen Style, which is based on Pets.

That's definitely the hallmark of a borked custom career.  Once again: custom careers are E V I L.  Expunge them from your game like the vile cancer that they are.  If you haven't installed a custom career explicitly, there's a good chance you picked it up from an infected lot you downloaded.
21  Simmers' Paradise / Content Creation & Recoloring Help / Texture UV Groups on: November 24, 2007, 07:12:22 pm
Thanks, Wes.  Is there an easy way to replicate these points after the fact to create this seam?  Or do I manually have to redefine all the faces along the seam?
22  Simmers' Paradise / Content Creation & Recoloring Help / Texture UV Groups on: November 24, 2007, 01:31:20 pm
Well, this technique has almost worked.  I regrouped the hand, set up the UV's the way I wanted them, then ungrouped them so that all verts are reassociated with "body".  The effect looks correct in Milkshape w/ the UV's "divorced" from the rest of the body and mapped to another area of the texture.  This is exactly what I was after, but when I export the GMDC, the hand is no longer textured. :\

Maybe I need an update of WesH's tools.

I am using Milkshape 1.8.0 and attempting to do some UV work within the tool.  I feel like I'm performing brain surgery with a fishing pole.

I am trying to create a new UV texture group (but do not desire a separate mesh group).  For example, the arms of the standard body mesh are broken into 4 distinct UV groups...left front, right front, left back, right back...the textures of which are placed at different locations in the skin texture.  Physically, the arms are all part of the same "body" group in the mesh, however.  But for texturing purposes, they are divorced from it.

I want to take a part of the existing mesh - like a hand for example, and map JUST the hand by itself to another location in the texture.  However, I cannot figure out how to accomplish this simple task in Milkshape because the UV nodes in the hands are "tethered" with the rest of the arm.  I want to separate the hand from the rest of the arm for texturing purposes only in the same way the arms are separated from the trunk of the body.

24  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / My Game Won't Let My Teens Sneak Out! on: November 19, 2007, 08:12:38 pm
There is a requirement that both the sneaker and the sneakee must live with a parent or guardian.  If this is just a random townie, they probably don't have a lot and/or they probably don't have parents living with them.

So Dustin Broke could sneak out with Angela Pleasant, but not with Amy Jones (NPC newspaper girl) if I understand the test correctly.

EDIT: Actually, it's just the sneaker (your sim) that has to have a parent or guardian.  The only requirements for the sneakee is that they are a teen and have a valid lot with a phone.
25  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / My Game Won't Let My Teens Sneak Out! on: November 18, 2007, 11:42:21 am
The option to Call...|Sneak Out appears between 10:00PM and 1:00AM.  Pickup is at 1:00AM.  There has to be an eligible sim to Sneak Out with in order for this option to appear and neither sim must currently be scheduled to sneak out with someone else.

The option to Crank Call appears during the same time frame, except your sim's niceness score must be 4 (out of 10) or less.

In the course of investigating this, I did uncover a bug in the InTeenimater that prevents pregnant teens from sneaking out.  If your teen is pregnant, this could be the reason you don't see the option.  I've posted a hotfix here.  Make sure you get the OFB-Seasons version (since your latest EP is Pets).
26  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Teens can move out? on: November 15, 2007, 12:15:57 am
You can use the InSIMenator to create Independent Teens.
27  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Can give birth? on: November 12, 2007, 10:03:35 pm
The #1 reason InTeenimater users don't see the option for Try for Baby is they blindly installed the Silent Pregnancy flavor pak without RTFM .  If you have this flavor pak in your downloads folder, remove it.

Stick a turkey baster in your CD-ROM drive.
29  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Better Graphics Card? on: November 09, 2007, 09:00:19 pm
I have the 512MB version of this card:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102093

This card will give you top-shelf performance (but you'll need to get your system RAM up to 1GB or higher as suggested to realize the benefit).  There are even higher end video cards out there but you're going to pay out the nose for very little benefit in The Sims 2.

I would definitely second the suggestion that you have a professional service your computer if you are unfamiliar with computer hardware.  Tell them what video card you want and that you want to upgrade your RAM to 1GB.  It's a 30 min job (on a bad day), so don't let anyone sell you up the river by telling you it will take "a couple hours" to install.  It really is as simple as unscrewing the case, pulling out the old hardware, slapping in the new, attaching the case, and installing the correct operating system drivers.  If you have any computer savvy friends, you might consider soliciting their help.

More correctly: 'tis a problem of a user running an old version of InTeen in Bon Voyage - not with the old version of InTeen itself.
