16  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / Re: What are you currently doing (besides being here)? on: July 03, 2009, 08:41:13 am
Sorry to hear about your dog, Jenna.  We lost a hamster earlier this year that my daughter was just crazy about.  Needless to say she was heartbroken.  I have to admit I liked the little guy a lot as well.  Point is, I feel your pain.

We're a poor substitute for a beloved pet, but the Insimmers are all happy to see you when you come home.  We don't scratch the door when we want to go out or chew up your slippers, and heck, I'll even lick your face if it will make you feel better.   Laugh

Massachusetts. NO WHERE NEAR BOSTON, DON'T ASK ME IF I'M CLOSE.
You don't know far away from anything until you've tried to drive across Texas. shocked

Speed Racer - Video game meets The Matrix meets kid movie plus some swearing.  Weird, but hey, it ate up 2 hrs and 15 min that I would have otherwise spent channel surfing, watching lame crap and swearing at my non-functional on-screen programming guide.

Just watched Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist.  Kind of an odd movie, but sweet too.  Thank you, Netflix!

Ah, so they're even bigger goof-ups than we are.  Good information to know.  Cheesy

American Gangster.  Not exactly family hour fare, but an enjoyable movie if you're in the mood for that sort of thing.

So does ISA have a better basement or something?  Is that why the Empress keeps going back there?  Are we really going to be upstaged by those ISA slaves? Evil

You know if you make Naria a Resident Slacker, Jenna is going to insist on being an Attending Slacker.  There's no way she's playing second fiddle to any of us in anything.  Wink

Oh bat turds, Jenna had a party and I missed it.  Oh wait, I wasn't invited.  There's something new and different.   Giggle  But seriously, sorry I missed it J.  Hope you had a really great birthday celebration.

Sorry I'm so late catching on Brat.  Hang in there man.  I know things are looking pretty suckish now, but you WILL come through this okay.  You've got a lot of people praying for you who care about you, so you can't lose.  :-)

Why? Do you have something against pudding-faced pixel lesbians? Hmm? *glares*
No J, we all like you just fine.   Laugh2 ROFL

Well, it's been nice knowing you folks.  Can somebody wipe up the blood when Jenna gets done with me?

Southland Tales - Definitely has my vote for the weirdest most borderline nonsensical movie I have seen in the last 10 or so years!  If somebody asked me "What would a bad reaction to Demerol be like if you put a soundtrack to it?" I would just tell them to go watch this movie.  Holy Crap it was absurd.
30  A Safe Haven / Teen Discussion / Re: Braces on: May 28, 2009, 09:58:17 pm
If you don't mind listening to an old guy for a bit, I had them when I was younger.  I'm guessing the technology has advanced a bit since I had them, but I understand they are basically the same.  Typically they are attached to the teeth with a special dental cement.  A running wire is used to connect each tooth to the others and by manipulating the wires the orthodontist can gradually reposition the teeth.  It's uncomfortable, especially early on, but it gets better with time and after a while you kind of take it for granted.  Make sure you get a little obsessive about cleaning your teeth since you are at greater risk for cavities with the braces on.  Once you get the braces off, you will probably go to some sort of retainer.  Get obsessive about wearing it when you are supposed to.  And keep going to the dentist to keep an eye on those wisdom teeth.  They can undo all the good work of the braces later in your teens if you and your dentist don't deal with them in timely fashion. [/annoying old guy lecture]
