76  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: Real Sims on: July 10, 2014, 02:08:29 pm
I tried multiple links from both of your posts and they worked without issue for me too. Yes, they went to Mediafire and I had to be careful to choose the right thing to click on. They also popped up a window for "Download Manager" which I carefully avoided as I think it is bloatware.

But the mesh links and several random clothing links worked fine for me.
77  The Sims 4 / Sims 4 Buzz / Re: What are some things from previous games that you DON'T want in Sims 4? on: June 20, 2014, 06:57:39 am
I don't want questing for moodlets to dominate over my Sims long-term desires (or my desires for them).
I don't want all the time and effort I put into developing a family and its relationships to all go to waste when I decide to play a different family.

And of course....

I don't want a buggy out-of-the-box game.
I don't want hard to manage Custom Content.
I don't want to buy additional content from a "Store" or a "Gallery" between official EP/SP releases.
78  The Sims 4 / Sims 4 Buzz / Re: What are you most looking forward to in the new game? on: June 10, 2014, 08:59:36 pm
While I'm definitely looking forward to the hopefully more varied creation of Sims, to me that is just the cover to the book. I'm more interested in what's inside. The look of the Sims might keep me interested for a while but what the gameplay is like is what will keep me playing.

TS3 gave us some variation in Sims reactions and tendencies with the personality traits so I'm hoping that with the first attempt at adding some emotions in TS4 that there will be even more variability in how the Sims react to what goes on in their lives. And I'm hoping that TS4 isn't quite as quest driven as TS3 ended up being in order to add all the moodlets to our Sims daily activities. I'd like it to feel more like I was directing their lives again rather than being led down specific paths.

So I'm really looking forward to seeing how the emotions in TS4 play out.

Is there something unique about this Sim? Was she born in-game, created by someone else, or originally an NPC or special game character?

By "When the rays came down" do you mean when the hula dancers appear onto the lot?
80  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Lot number on: May 18, 2014, 08:37:51 am
A low-tech way to determine the Lot number is to go into the Lot and save it. Then go to My Documents - EA Games - The Sims 2 - Neighborhoods -- Nxxx (the neighborhood number) - Lots.

View the list by "Details" and sort by "Date Modified". The most recently saved lot (the one you just saved) will display at the top of the list as Nxxx-Lotnnn.package where Nxxx is the neighborhood number and Lotnnn is the Lot number.
81  Simmers' Paradise / Clothing & Body Mesh's / Re: A request to convert an outfit from Maxis size to Warlokk's CPU size. on: May 06, 2014, 11:18:27 pm
If you are comfortable in BodyShop exporting the original dress and then copying the files from that export into a different BodyShop project, then you can do this easily yourself.

Just a couple of weeks ago Snarf created a brand new mesh - ClassicPinupAlphaDressMultishoeTwoMESH. Converting this outfit to that new mesh (using the barefoot shoe option from Snarf's mesh) is a straight conversion. The BodyShop file names are identical. No remeshing or retexturing is required, just copying six bmp files from one BodyShop project and replacing them in another BodyShop project is all it takes.

The CPU's bigger hip size, however, makes a couple of flaws in the original more noticeable. One is that the front and back panels of the dress don't actually meet and, when converted, the gap along the hip bone while small on the Maxis version is much larger on the CPU version. The other is that the dress actually "floats" above the skin, not actually touching the Sim. Again using Snarf's new mesh, that gap between Sim and dress is much more obvious.

Should you want to try it yourself, Snarf's mesh is located in his section - Snarf's Shenanigans - at BackAlleySims. BAS is an adult site (registration required) so I can't post a link to it here.

83  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Teen with white skin on face on: March 13, 2014, 11:13:45 pm
Two other possibilities come to my mind.

1) Your graphics card isn't up to the task of rendering the sim properly. BobbyTH's GND and MoD bodyshapes are very high poly which means that it takes a lot of graphics power to render them in the game. You could try reducing the graphics resolution using your in-game options to see if that clears up the problem.

2) The skintone is corrupt or the writing actually exists in the skintone files for TF and AF. Export the skintone using BodyShop and look at the individual bmp files to see if they look normal.

85  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Debuging problems..please really need some help thank you on: January 31, 2014, 09:49:18 am
Broomhilda, let me offer a couple of suggestions. They probably won't help with this particular issue but should make future issues a bit less disconcerting. You said you just recently started using CC so the tendency is to go on big downloading sprees. (I should know, I have more than 30,000 files in my Downloads folder.)

First, keep your downloads separate from your original game files. When deleting things (either for cleanup or for debugging), you should rarely ever be in a folder where you "delete the wrong thing and mess up my game".

Second, since you have all EPs, you can use subfolders within your Downloads folder. Using subfolders, for me, is critical to having a stable game. Whenever I go on a downloading spree, or whenever I download new CC for that matter, I put all of the new files into a subfolder called "NewStuff". Then I play my game. If I encounter problems, then I pretty well know that something in the NewStuff folder is the culprit and I can "divide and conquer" as caffeinated.joy mentioned. I will play multiple sessions before I feel comfortable enough to move my "NewStuff" into their appropriate subfolders such as GameObjects, Clothing (categorized by Gender and Body Shape), Makeup, etc.

As your CC grows, try to keep your "known good" CC separate from the "NewStuff" or unknown items. It will save you lots of time and anguish in debugging when those inevitable CC conflicts do occur.
86  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: WCIF: Middle Finger Pose on: October 05, 2013, 08:15:19 pm
Oops.  Embarrassed  Thanks joy. That's what I get for not actually READING the post!

But luckily, Julie J also has a pose box for TS2 with that pose. It is in her Sims2 Adult section at Back Alley Sims under poseboxes. That specific pose box name can't be mentioned here.

Aye_jay is looking for TS2, though, Hobbes. Smiley

I've tried searching it up but everything I find is for the sims 3 only
87  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: WCIF: Middle Finger Pose on: October 05, 2013, 06:20:30 pm
Julie J created one in her "Rude Gestures" pose box for TS3 over at Back Alley Sims. It is in her 18+ Adult section there.

If you've applied the corresponding Maxis patch following your latest EP install, then you shouldn't need to do any further patching. It isn't like there have been any new patches for Sims2 in the last several years.
89  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Re: memories/can't get rid of fears on: September 27, 2013, 07:56:04 am
The only reasons I can think of where two Sims can't get married/joined when they are adult age or older are (1) if they are related, (2) if either one of them is engaged to someone else and (3) if either one of them is still married/joined.

You've probably done this, but verify that they aren't related and that neither has a previous engagement still pending.

In this case it sounds from your description that the game did not dissolve Denise's marriage to Yues upon his death. You might try using SimPE to edit Denise's character file to mark her as not being married/joined. (Always back up your game before using SimPE to edit it though.) If that works, then she and Christian should be able to marry.
90  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Lots won't load!! on: July 11, 2013, 07:23:16 pm
You can try deleting your groups.cache file (in the root directory of The Sims 2). That can resolve a variety of issues. And no need to worry - the game rebuilds it as needed so deleting the file won't hurt a thing.

Then there is the usual thing to try of removing your Downloads folder to determine if some piece of Custom Content is causing the problem. If the lot loads without CC, then you've narrowed it down and can gradually figure out the culprit as you swap CC in and out of your Downloads folder.
