661  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / 1. CLP Errors - 2. Buy/Build Problems on: November 01, 2008, 02:21:56 am
1. I just saw the solution to this problem on Usenet Smiley You have the "community lot normal speed arrival" hack by Dickhurt at MTS2, right? Go get the Game Edition Add-On and that should solve that problem lickety split.

2. No idea.

I also have SeeThem2 and I turned off the shift+click option (the option that works the same as boolprop_testingcheatseabled true) and that's when the error message disapperared but I'm still having the same problem.

That IS debug mode. The way See Them 2 works is that it creates a userstartup.cheat for you and it puts the cheat codes in there. When you had the "shift+click option" on, you basically had debug mode turned on. When you turned it off, away went debug mode. Which is why you stopped getting error messages. Error messages show up when debug mode is on, but disappear when you turn it off.

So what was the solution?
664  Resident Creators / Squinge's Mods / Beta Testers Needed! - Closed For Now on: October 31, 2008, 04:31:58 pm
I know about the Any Game Starter. However, since advice is often given that any lots built using the any game starter should be only installed using Clean Installer and not the Maxis installer, I wasn't sure whether there is something different to the Any Game Starter game to a regular game. However, if an Any Game Starter environment is acceptable for testing, then I already have it installed anyway. I build my lots in using it.

ETA: I'm thinking I just proved myself to be an imbecile with that statement. But hey, that's the way the cookie crumbles.

You should create a new custom neighborhood. Then transfer all files from N002 into N003. N003 will replace the old neighborhood.

This will only work if you rename ALL the files from N002 to N003. I use a program called CKRename to do that sort of thing. http://www.musicsucks.com/CKSoft/CKRename/

You have a HP, right? Change the hotkey combo for HP Health Check to something else. I don't have a HP so cannot give you directions, but try pressing ctrl+shift+c while NOT in the game, see what pops up and change the hotkeys for that.
667  Simmers' Paradise / FreeTime Help / Hobby lot on: October 30, 2008, 04:48:49 pm
You could always try to drag the sim's enthusiasm up while debug mode is active. I've never tried it because I tend to ignore the hobby lots, but your sim may need to do something related to the hobby in order to trigger the pop-up after you have dragged the enthusiasm to level 4 (which is when you get the membership card).

Potential crash test dummy/beta tester reporting for recruiting Smiley

I have all EPs and all SPs except the Holiday SP(s). The attached pie menu (self-click) and error log are from a game where the only hack is the alien eye fix. However, I am willing to test stuff in both a totally clean game as well as in one with my full complement of hacks.

Making a hood melt down does not bother me. I have been playing TS2 since it came out so I'm familiar with most aspects of the game and know what is expected of "normal" gameplay.

Although I have ALL the EPs and 7/8 SPs, I also have access to a second PC on which I can I can install any combination of EPs and SPs required. So I guess I'm saying I'd like to be considered for both AL and FT beta tester, although I'd prefer AL because that won't require sitting there for hours on end, installing EPs and SPs on the other machine Cheesy

I love the playground equipment!

I need to get that new medicine cabinet mirror into a few more houses. I really like the tooth brushing but never see it because I always forget to place that mirror!
670  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Crashing house on: October 29, 2008, 01:41:23 am
Which house is it? Can you provide a link to the download? Did you install all the custom content that came with the house? When you looked at the custom content in the file, were any lines highlighted in red? Are other houses crashing, or just this one?

It's quite possible that either A) the house has so much high poly custom content that it makes your graphics card work it's little fingers to the bone and makes the game crash or B) if you didn't check over the CC that came with the house, you may have accidentally let in an out-of-date or incompatible hack/hacked object which is making your game crash.

672  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / quick question on: October 27, 2008, 08:37:14 pm
What they do is have the sim make the pose, then place the sim on the magisplay tray that came with OFB (you can get an invisible recolour for it so it doesn't show in pictures), then placed the tray, with the sim still on it) onto an OMSP (one more slot package) that is the right height for the surface they want the sim to be posed on. Then they use moveobjects on and probably boolprop snapobjectstogrid false to move the OMSP into position and the sim looks like they are doing the pose on whatever surface, like a bed or a counter, on top of the fridge, etc.

There's a bunch of picture taking tutorials here: http://forums.sims2community.com/showthread.php?t=5408. And then there is this one here, too: http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Tutorials:Taking_Totally_Bitchin_Pics

Thanks Smiley It took a lot of editing, in places pixel by pixel, so I'm glad you like it Smiley

The transparency seems to be attaching as a thumbnail. I'll chuck it into a RAR, I suppose.
