If you use the cheat code boolprop ControlPets on you can control them.

I read this advice some place but didn't pay close attention to it, so thanks for posting squinge. Of course I haven't tried getting my sims any roomies yet, so maby that's why I didn't pay closer attention to the details! :) Title: where's my roommate?
