Title: Questions about the sims on mac Post by: Mi-chii on April 03, 2007, 10:42:13 am I am selling my PC and buying my fiance's Mac. I am planning on selling my Sims-games for the PC to have money to buy it for Mac. I know about the 12000 or something limit on custom contest, but even in my worst periods of downlad-crazy and lazyness in deleting unused stuff, I have never passed 10.000 downloads on my computer. I don't use SimPe, or homecrafter, so that's not a problem.
Now here are my questions: Will all custom content be usable? I have heard about tewture-problems and so on, but that don't worry me. What I mean is: There isn't like CC for windows-sims and CC for mac-sims? I can use everything I find? Whatever I make in Mac-Bodyshop, can that be used by windows-users? And when does Seasons come out for Mac? Anything else you can tell me is much appreciated :) Title: Questions about the sims on mac Post by: Marhis on April 03, 2007, 02:58:42 pm All CC is normally usable. Exceptions (more or less) may be:
- some custom walls, with textures not correctly resized, don't show (you'll see grey walls, instead). - custom tv channels don't work (a codec problem, maybe, I don't know) - some hacks that need to be loaded in game in a fixed sorted way, may behave differently, because of different sorting rules in files lists, between Win and Mac. You may experience this if you subfolder a lot, but usually you can resolve the issue renaming the files, so they load in the expected way. - no antialiasing :( (That's maybe what I miss the most) Generally, yes, you can use everything, and bodyshop products are the same, in mac and win. At this moment is officially released LifeStories for Mac; if the delay is the same, Seasons shouldn't not last too much (at least, I hope). EDIT: I just checked on Aspyr site... coming soon: Family Fun Stuff. yuck :puke: Title: Questions about the sims on mac Post by: Mi-chii on April 03, 2007, 03:04:25 pm what is antialias?
Thank you so much for your answers! Title: Questions about the sims on mac Post by: Marhis on April 03, 2007, 03:13:12 pm Antialiasing is a graphic setting in windows version: it smoothes all lines. If you want to see the difference, go to settings and check antialiasing off (if you have it on, of course).

Title: Questions about the sims on mac Post by: candiwax on April 08, 2007, 07:00:41 pm I am on a mac and I have to say, I'm actually quite happy!
the only thing that bugs me is that I cannot seem to get the game to work if I put it on an external hard drive, but if you have enough memory on your comp., this should not be a problem! -good luck, and welcome to Mac! Title: Questions about the sims on mac Post by: Mi-chii on April 11, 2007, 04:58:40 pm Monshanjik, that won't be a problem, I've never been able to pass 7.000 downloads, lol, I download a ton and then I get delete-happy a couple of weeks afterwards.
These are the specs on the Mac Im getting: PowerBook G4, a bit over a year old, has had some updates and stuff 1 GB DDR SDRAM Prosessor 1.5 GHz PowerPC G4 Graphic card ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 That's good enough for the sims+expansions, is it? And candiwax, I can't wait, I hate PC's and windows so much! Anyone want to buy my Sims PC-games? lol. I have to sell them to afford the Mac-games! Title: Questions about the sims on mac Post by: Charmy Renai on April 17, 2007, 03:54:34 pm Download this program and it will check your computer to see if your computer will be able to run Sims 2 and the expansions. http://www.aspyr.com/product/info/63

Title: Questions about the sims on mac Post by: adelewen on June 12, 2007, 01:43:19 am The Sims Seasons was released for Mac today. As a Mac user, I've never really had any problems with any of the custom content I downloaded. The only downfall is that you can't do things that are possible with Windows user programs like SimPE (i.e. packaging in-game born sims) or programs that detect hacks. To this day I haven't found any that will allow you to view/sort/test your custom content on a Mac.
