hi every one.secondly i have university expansion as well. but there is no serial no on the cover of CD. now everytime i try to copy UNIVERSITY SIMS. it ask me for SERIAL NO... from where i can a SERIAL NO? The serial number may be not on the cover, but on the back of your booklet (mine is anyway, it's a European edition, though). ~°~°~°~ @n3rin3: There is an edit button on the bottom of your posting, you can avoid double postings (which are not very popular in forums), by using that button. Especially when two postings are of the same topic and posting time.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / I am going to f***ing scream

This isn't exactly a Sims 2 issue. I have no problem playing that game. I have problems playing some other games though. Such as Half Life games, WoW, some of the smaller casual games that you would find on Big Fish.com and Real Arcade also crash my system. I really don't know about that kinds of games, I am a tomb raider, persian prince and simmer mostly. But let the reviews and benchmarks on Tom's Hardware speak for themselves. Those were what convinced me, anyway. I must admit, however, that I'm not using the card yet, atm everyone wants it and it's sold out everywhere. I've ordered it a couple of weeks ago and am now more or less patiently waiting for the postman... I may just end up going back to XP if thats the problem. But Vista was having no trouble for months, this is fairly recent. Only started doing this toward the end of summer. Although I cannot speak of first hand experience on this, but all I ever heard about Vista, was that it consumes lots of recources and makes all kinds of troubles. I for one am determined to keep my XP until the "beta stage for paying customers" will be history (if ever).

Look for some reviews about the new GeForce 8800GT 515MB. It's a bit more expensive, but it's worth it. I saw it for about $250. But hey, I ordered it in Germany for €230, which is about $340, so it's still "cheap" for you if you order in the US. The performance is nearly as good as the still very pricey 8800GTX, but the price is about the same as the 8800GTS, which has far inferior performance. It's SLI capable, too. And hey, why don't'cha loose Vista? Might even do the trick without new hardware, but your gpu is still low end for the sims.

That's not exactely the whole truth. The CEP is only for recolors of Maxis objects. But if NOTHING at all shows up, no clothes, no nothing, it's sureley not the missing CEP. But of course you gotta have the CEP, no matter what!

nope, you just make a new neighborhood, place copies of your Lots in that hood, then you can delete them from the Lot bin... Okay, now I really got it. Finally. I guess, both methods have their pros and cons. I think it was Nightlife that provided the advanced lot bin functions. Theres no sense me registering for a site that may not have anything I would be interested in and since I can't browse the site first to see... I also don't understand German so I don't even know if the site is a forum like this one  *really dosen't need yet another forum to visit* unless theres some good hacks there? *is a hack junkie* It's a forum and you can have a peak at what they have, if you enter the main site. The site is German, but they make a nice effort to present it in both English and German, so you should be able to find your way around, I think (it's easier to click on 'forum' and browse the names of the contributors). They have mainly objects (new meshes), houses, sims, clothes. Nice things. And they don't bite if you register an account and don't come back too often.

If you backup your stuff then there is no need to lose anything when a reinstall is necessary. It's not hard to back up neighborhoods.
Oh, you don't need to tell me that. I'm the backup queen! I have saved every file I ever downloaded, I have a duplicate of the current downloads folder, one of an older one and I have a complete Sesons installation, because I intend to fall back to Seasons because BV isn't worth the trouble it's making. Anyway, what good does it for me if I backuped packaged lots and deleted them in the bin, because I wasn't aware that I wouldn't be able to install them back into the game? But that was then. I guess, with "trick 17" I'd be able to use them again. Hopefully. But now I get what you meant with storage hood - you put all the lots in the bin and then remove it from the game folder, right? The site is really good and you wouldn't regret registering for free. Engelchen did a lot of superb recolors for the bodybuilders, for example. But I'll edit my prior posting, so no one else needs to encounter an access denied.

Um... is the lots bin different for different hoods? I never noticed that... And the point of packaging and storing lots is after all, to backup them and be able to install again after a reinstall of the game. It is to me, anyway.

I just found this at All4Sims.de. Maybe the "trick 17" (as we Germans say ) can also help with self packaged lots. If you'll do that, please keep us posted if it works, atm I have no lot to test this with. Funny: that's exactely how I always install downloaded houses, I guess, I didn't think it was neccessary for my own... Edit: You need to be registered at http://www.all4sims.de to see the site, but it's free and they have great downloads.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Specifically, what's the problem with BV?
|
on: November 18, 2007, 12:22:09 pm

There are a lot of threads and stickies about the BV issues. Why don't you go read them to form your own opinion, as asking the same question all over again won't procure any new answers.
Also, I am quite sure that you're not supposed to talk about cracked versions of the game here, or at least no one will give you advice on that.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Issue with Sims 2 Deluxe

Did you try right click on your cd/dvd drive and then open instead of autorun? You may unintentionally have changed the settings for autorun (some people - like me - do it intentionally, cos I don't care much for windows popping up in my face when I change the cd/dvd while I'm busy doing something else). And does the drive open a window when you put in a different cd?

I have the same problem and I asked about it here a while ago, but nobody could help me then. This was before BV, probably with Seasons. I'd install the lots the intended way, but never found my houses in game.
To this day, nobody could even tell me where the custom content in the houses goes if you install through teleport. It doesn't go into Downloads root, because I'd find it there, as all other content is sorted in folders. And I doubt the packages would go into the "right" folders all by themselves, lol. Of course I mean, I didn't find anything after running the game. Nothing in teleport, nothing in downloads, nothing in game. But no problem whatsoever installing downloaded houses, it's only the ones I packaged myself. It's quite frustrating, really.
