This mod changes the default group meal serving count from 6 to 100.
 
note: when sims serve a meal they won't serve 100 plates unless there are 100 hungry sims on the lot.
 
**Important: Before you Install this new version you may wish to sell any existing food that your sims have in their inventory because that food will be unusable after installing this mod**
 
5/11/06 Some of you wanted fewer servings so I made an alternate version that only makes 12 servings.
5/21/06 fixed the problem with not being able to sell food.
 9/27/06 Fixed a bug with the spaghetti in the 6 more servings version it was set to 100 servings.

Isn't 100 a bit excessive? They'll be serving all day!

ooh, an awesome mod this is. i think it's rediculus that the max is 6 meals, while the deafolt resident max is 8.

They still serve meals like normal, the only difference is the group meal won't be empty until it gets eaten or cleaned up:)

As long as feeding an army doesn't cost extra in food units, this will be great (once I get back home to download it, that is.)
I never understood the logic in allowing 8 residents but only serving enough food for 6, either. Now it would be really great if you could select how many people to cook for and have the appropriate amount of food deducted from the fridge.

Just curious Squinge, would it affect also the serving on community lots (mainly downtown not businesses)?  There is always more than 6 sims there and my Sims sometimes have to use the bbq twice to serve everybody so if it does affect this too it would be great :)

I just checked & this mod doesn't conflict with any of those mods, also it should work for the grills on community lots but I haven't tried it yet:)

This sounds great! However, I have all 3 EPs, and accordingly, downloaded the OFB version. My Sims still seem to cook the same amount of meals, though - the plate is empty after 6 servings.  Do I need to replace my fridges? I've tried both custom and Maxis fridges and neither works. Thanks for all you do, Squinge!

You may need but it worked for me without replacing the fridges or it may be a hack conflict have you tried the sims 2 hack conflict detection utility (http://www.simwardrobe.com) to check?

I've tried the conflict detector before, but it just tells me a zillion times that the insiminator conflicts with pretty much every mod I have. I'll try replacing fridges next time I play. Thanks for the quick reply!

That is strange because the Insim doesn't conflict with anything because it doesn't modify any global functions:)  if it still doesn't work let me know & I will try to think of something else.

Only a little glitch. The dishes are no longer empty when sims have finished to eat.

Which dishes? after they eat in my game the plate is empty, the group meal should be empty after all servings have been used but I haven't served 100 sims yet:)

I did not had that problem in my game, the plates were empty when they finished eating.

This sounds really useful, thank you. Does it use twice as much food from your refrigerator as the six servings, or just the same? In other words is using this going to increase your Sims' food costs, and result in the fridge needing refilling more often?

The food amount subtracted from the fridge is the same as it was for six servings:)

Don't know how you keep on churning these great mods out so fast, but keep on churning! It makes the game expereince so much better for all of us with all our varied styels of playing if we can pick and choose the modifications we suit best.

Thank heavens I found this post - I had no idea why I couldn't get my bakery items for sale any longer!

I have the 6 more servings version of this mod and while the HCDU shows no conflict with it I seem to have a problem with certain maxis meals. It never happens with custom foods but certain ones like spaghetti I seem to get *never ending* group servings. I started to count and the highest I got for a single family was well over 20 servings taken from spaghetti and there was still more.

I can test to see exactly what other foods this impacts if you'd like. I'm not sure what other information you'd need.

Hate to bump a thread, but Squinge the hack-conflict-utility tells me that this is conflicting with most of Morague's foods (like the ribs and hot dogs), I confess I've been using them together for ages, without probs, but I wonder if there could be any hidden effects otherwise, that might crop up later.

That conflict is normal, as long as my mod loads after hers then you will still get more servings  :)

The mods load alpahbetically, and by folder, right?  

I've got her stuff in a FOODS folder, but this mod in a SQUINGE folder (yes, you've got your own folder!)....so your goodies are loading afterwards, right?

I do have a question though. I'm not quite sure if I completely understand what the mod does.  Here is my problem.....

I built an "orphanage" for all the "homeless" default teens and children in Pleasantview. Numerous problems were encountered, for sure. *L*. A total of 16 members in the household, two CAS sisters, I created and 12 default rugrats, plus a live-in maid and house manager (dmaSims).

I had to use SimPe to put the "family" together, and several mods to make things work:

LotFullofSims0x0177.package  (Doc Doofus)
smart-serve2g.package  (Dizzy)

Biggest problem is feeding them.  Dizzy's Smart-Serve2g solved most of the problem by feeding everyone that is hunger on the lot, which will allow a single group serving of more than 6 meals if more than 6 Sims are hunger. I still normally have to cook at least 2 group meals at a time to make sure everyone gets a serving. (Because a few of them's "hunger" level is always to high, so a meal is not prepared for them. The mod prepares the number of meals required based upon a Sim's hunger level.)

So the question is, will your mod prepare a SINGLE group meal for EVERY Sim in the household (plus visitors)?

NOTE: I have EP1 and EP2 installed.

Does anyone know if this is safe to use with all EPs and SPs, up to and including Apartment Life? I'm guessing if there's a conflict, it's with seasons or freetime because of how they affect food.

I'm a bit confused. I have all EP up to 4 (Pets) but I couldn't find a version in this EP4-thread. And as I don't have FFT/GLS I'm not sure if I can take the EP3-version  :-\
