61  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: My AL EP dvd is dead or...? on: September 07, 2009, 03:05:50 pm
Whenever my game has refused to start it's been the cache files causing the problem.  Delete those-you'll find them in the same folder as your Downloads folder.  There is groups, accessories and cigen, there may be another but I can never remember the name of that one.  You may not have them all but deleting them does no harm and the game will generate new ones the next time it loads, so it may take a little longer than usual to load up.  I always delete them before I play to avoid them getting corrupted as they have a tendency to do.  Hope this helps.

Thanks-the willow is just too big ordinarily, which is a shame because it's a lovely tree.  Hurray for you!

Hello,

Finally for you Simple Princess, I hope you like it.

Is it possible for somebody to make this house? is where you'll find the link to the plans for this house.

I've had to learn so much in the process of creating and uploading this house, which is why it has taken so long and not nearly as complete as I had hoped.  This is my first upload ever and I'm a bit of a technophobe so you can imagine how difficult parts of this have been for me.  It would never have gotten this far without the help of members here, so thanks to you all, especially Jenna and Ali for spoon feeding me, ha ha.  The lot is not identical to the one asked for, I'm limited by the game, my own abilities and what's available to use but I think it's a fair representation.  I do very much hope SimplePrincess is happy with this but if anyone else wants to leave constructive criticism, feel free-advice on roofing would be very welcome.

I was in such a hurry writing this yesterday that I forgot to show my appreciation for all those great creators who share their creations, where would us download junkies be without them, eh?  I don't want to mention anyone in particular-there's just too many, but I am very grateful to them all.

I have all EPs, SPs-Christmas Party Pack, H&M Fashion, Teen Stuff, Family Fun and Mansion and Garden.  If you don't have the same as me at the least, you probably shouldn't attempt to use this lot.

Some details about the lot

Residential 4x4 at $183 616

Ground Floor: living room, master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, nursery, wc, study, dining room, 2 fitted wardrobes, kitchen and breakfasting area, laundry room, double garage and storage room.

First floor: 3 bedrooms, 2 with fitted mirrored wardrobes, all with en-suite bathrooms, open area above garage (ideal for a recreation/party/play room) and wc.

It's fully decorated but furnished only on the ground floor, Maxis furniture predominating.  I've used custom objects only where necessary.

69  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Gimp on: September 01, 2009, 08:28:10 am
I really don't have much of a clue how to properly utilise the Gimp (hurrah for its existance though), but there is a little icon you click on in the tools section to give an airbrush effect, click on them until you find the right one.  Lower down you will then have the option to change the size and stuff.  Go back to the place you downloaded it from and get the manual in PDF.  There are also some links there to tutorials which may help you.

Thank you Engram, I was wondering about the repository technique thing too, making things bit messy.  I'm spending ages writing lists, checking TOUs and finding the links but there's not that much cc, compared to many.  Thank you for the advice, nice to have the confirmation that I'm doing things right.

Phew, thanks.  First upload soon then...as soon as I sort out my monitor problems-my son turned my computer off today, game up and lot loaded, at the socket no less and now the damn thing won't stop cutting out.  If it ain't one thing...
72  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Question concerning the packaging of a lot on: August 31, 2009, 09:57:26 am
Hello,
I'm preparing my first uploaded lot and packaged it up last night.  I know that things can end up in the package that you don't want to be there, but my lot seems to have loads of objects and recolours I know I didn't put on the lot, such as Numenor's recolourable stairs.  The size of the lot is nearly 80mb but it's only 2 floors on a 4x4 lot, furnished only on the ground floor with maxis furniture with a handful of cc.  I have since gone back into the lot and written down everything I used so I can take out all the unwanted content in the package.  I'm wondering if this is entirely normal or is the lot broken somehow, with so much extra content in there not just a sneaky hack?  This is a requested upload and as I said my first ever, so I do not want to muck this up.  It's also taken me a fair amount of time to get right and I don't want to have to rebuild it.  So, will it be safe enough for me to take out everything that's not meant to be there?  Thank you for your time.
73  Simmers' Paradise / Lots & Neighborhoods / Re: Is it possible for somebody to make this house? on: August 23, 2009, 10:57:07 am
I've tried pming you but you've no room, if you can't delete anything could you pm me with an email address?  Having looked at the plans again, I don't think I can do the sideways garage-the doors will have to open onto the main street but I do have a door that will not look out of place.  Also to replicate it perfectly there would need to be a bit of CFE, something I'm not particularly adept at, so I'd rather not try but I will do my best.  If you've got some time on your hands could you have a look for doors and windows.  I thought I had some that would do but looking at them now, I'm not so sure.  The ones I thought would do, were the ATS Canal Lock Build Set, and the Bourbon Set by someone at TSR, the name of whom escapes me.  Maybe these will have to do.  Anyway, as I say, I'll do my best and be in touch soon.
74  Simmers' Paradise / Lots & Neighborhoods / Re: Is it possible for somebody to make this house? on: August 23, 2009, 06:35:33 am
Oh I'm glad you have every EP, picking and choosing would have been a nightmare.  I haven't started building it yet as I've had probs of my own and I wanted to wait for your reply but I'll start today.  If there's any set you want included let me know as my stuff is limited to historic cc.
75  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Help with entering a lot-now with added error log on: August 21, 2009, 08:54:48 am
Hi all,

I attempted to enter a residential lot today and instead of getting the bit that tells you who lives in the property, and their aspiration levels and stuff, it just froze at the little label with name and season.  On my second attempt I had cheatstestingenabled on, but still the same and no error so no log.  I'm wondering if it could be a thumbnail problem, but I'm not sure where to locate the pictures for the family in question so that they can be deleted and regenerated.  This has happened to me before and I simply moved the family out but I'm reluctant to do that this time, my RKC hood is the only one I've ever bothered about.  Any suggestions greatly received.  Thanks.

edit: It's not limited to this lot.  The lot I played last is ok, when I played that I had to reset a couple of sims, so there's obviously issues there and there is/are errors report from that.  I'm running HCDU just now, so I'll see how it goes.  I hope I haven't broken this hood, I've put a lot of work into it so far and I'd barely started.

edit: Ok, I'm a fool.  For some time I must have been playing with either 2 versions of Squinge's wear anything pregnant hack or one of them and the one by dizzy.  I found the extra Squinge one through running the HCDU.  So, that's got to cause problems.  Those were the only conflicts in the report that I thought I didn't recognise but I tried the game again and still no luck.  I'm thinking maybe something to do with beds though, as that was something to do with the reset in my last play.  I have attached my latest error log in the hope that someone may be able to decipher something from it.  Thanks.
