Well in the options you can change your volume settings. I'm not sure about the cheat part tho.

floatprop tvvolume (value from 0 to 1)
.5 is apparently the default.

GisIzzy

press CTRL + SHIFT + C

then type floatprop tvvolume 0.2 in the cheat box

then click the ENTER key

if this is too low try again with floatprop tvvolume 0.3

This will change the volume for that game session only and you will need to re-do the cheat every time you play

You might try adding floatprop tvvolume 0.2 to your userstartup.cheat file - read more about this here: http://mikeinside.modthesims2.com/hacks/cheats.html (http://mikeinside.modthesims2.com/hacks/cheats.html)

Captainkinko - yes and no - you can use the tombstone of life & death to add a sim on the lot to a given family - but in terms of some universal fix for what you want to do, I can't think of anything in the cheats that will remotely address that.  The only way I know to allow for more than 8 sims involves a mod.

I suppose you could use SimPE and add the sims to a lot's family - but I wouldn't have any certain knowledge here.  I know the game always went bork-tastic whenever I tried having more than 8 sims as a lot's family; so I'd be cautious to say it is wise to do, even if it is possible.
