Granny Paden-your first grandchild? Congratulations to you and your family, a newborn baby-there's nothing more wonderful.  As a granny you get all the fun and none of the hassle.  Great news.
48  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: "Transparent brick" walls on: September 17, 2009, 07:24:22 am
Here's one at MTS by Moon Ez and another that is a recolour of Numenor's wall window again at MTS by Kaneonapua.  And these are from TSR by debs913, it's free.
Hope one of these is right, I haven't got time to look for more just now but you might want to google "glass bricks" rather than transparent, that's how I found these.

Ha ha, very funny, I like your sense of humour.  Is there any more?
50  Simmers' Paradise / Sims Stories / Re: The Triangle: Chapter 1 *Update!* on: September 17, 2009, 03:28:17 am
Thanks for updating, you're on a roll.  I'm loving this story so far, very concise, not too wordy, yet it's stirring many emotions in me.  Well done, it must be quite a daunting experience posting your first story-I'm glad you did.

When I first started to read this, I'll be honest, I wasn't that impressed but by the end I was totally gagging for more-that's why I'm back today.  Is three of us enough to prise the next installment out of you?
52  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / Re: If you feel like posting random lyrics... on: September 16, 2009, 04:28:44 am
Oh my God Paden, thank you so much for the lyrics to Rattlin' Bog.  My mum used to listen to old Scottish folk songs by the Corries and people like that when I was very young. Most were full of Glencoe Massacres and skinning the English alive-quite traumatic stuff really to a 7 year old but it all melted away with Rattlin' Bog-I loved that song but never knew all the lyrics and I honestly haven't heard it since I was about that age.  There was another one I really liked, something about the word 'aye' but that's all I can remember.  That's such a blast from the past, thank you for giving me the oppertunity now to sing it with my kids.  I hope you read this because I'm totally serious-I was overjoyed to see that written here.

Anyway, usually little snippets of lyrics stick with me and one that rattles around my head a fair bit when I'm in a certain mood comes from Janis Joplin's 'Me and Bobby McGee'.

Well, I'd trade all my tomorrows,
for one single yesterday,
to be holding Bobby's body next to mine.

She sings that and you feel what she means, at least I do and it always makes me think of the man I love.

I love songs with stories, so here's another from my childhood (I'll edit with singer/writer when I find out/remember)

I wanna tell you all a story about a Harper Valley widowed wife
who had a teenage daughter who attended Harper Valley Junior High
well, one day her little girl came home from school and didn't even stop to play
and she said, "Mama got a note here from the Harper Valley PTA"

well, the note said, "Mrs. Johnson you're wearing your dresses way too high
it's reported you've been drinking and running round with men and going wild
and we don't believe you ought to be bringing up your little girl this way"
and it was signed by the secretary Harper Valley PTA

well it happened that the PTA was going to meet that very afternoon,
and they were sure surprised when Mrs. Johnson wore her mini skirt into the room
and as she walked up to the blackboard I can still recall the words she had to say
she said, I'd like to address this meeting of the Harper Valley PTA

well, there's Bobby Taylor sitting there and seven times he's asked me for a date
and Mrs. Taylor sure seems to use a lot of ice whenever he's away
and Mr. Baker, can you tell us why your secretary had to leave this town?
and shouldn't Gretta Jones be told to keep her window shades all pulled completely down?

Mr. Harper couldn't be here 'cause he spent too long at Kelly's Bar again
and if you smell Shirley Thompson's breath, you'll find she's had a little nip o' gin
and then you have the nerve to tell me you think that as a mother I'm not fit
well, this is just a little Peyton Place and you're all Harper Valley hypocrites

No, I wouldn't put you on now, it really did, it happened just this way
the day my mama socked it to the Harper Valley PTA

Hi,
Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday, I got totally caught up in finds pages.  Anyway, glad the above was some help and here's a milk pail by Rebecah at MTS.  Mugs and cups are hard to find.  I spent ages looking through the finds pages at the Sims Living Forum and didn't see any that were medieval like.  The closest thing I ever found were the tankards at Gara's Boutique.  As for teapots, go to this page at Simcastic Design and scroll down a bit for a clutter set-it looks like a kettle to me though.  Have a look at these pages at the Living Sims Forum for a wealth of links for everything. If you can't access the link then I suspect you need to be a member to see it.  There are more finds pages than this on the forum-it's amazing, I'm a bit scared to go back as I spent so much time there and I've really got to do the washing today. Anyway, best of luck with your endevours.

edit:  There's a clay cup thing among the Roman Pottery Set by Shino&KCR at TSR/Booty.  It doesn't have a handle but it may suffice

Jamie phones me in a panic telling me that I have to phone my bank because he'd taken over £100 out the cash machine but somehow managed to not pick it up.  He'd phoned the garage where he got the money but they said there was no money left in the machine.  Apparantly if this happens the machine automatically takes the money back in if it isn't taken within a certain period of time-if someone else doesn't get there first.  Anyway, the bank tells me that so far it looks ok but could take up to 3 days for the payment to be deducted if the money was taken by someone else.  I phone him back telling him the money hasn't been deducted and he decides to chance it and try and get the money out the machine again.  Then he phones me again to say that he went back to the machine and it was out of order-he hadn't even got as far as putting his card in the first time never mind getting the money!

I can help with most of these but my game isn't up and I can't remember where I got all the things you're looking for.  Off the top of my head, check Gara's Boutique, Around the Sims and Parsimonious for individual objects within their sets-I use them all the time in my medieval hood.  My game takes about over an hour to load but I'll be back with a better list for you when I've checked my game.  I don't know if I have a teapot though but maybe try Club Crymson (is that right?) for an old book.  Anyway, I'll be back in a while.
56  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / Re: The Dumbest Thing Your Spouse/SO has Ever Said or Done on: September 13, 2009, 05:08:10 am
Not the dumbest, just the latest-guess which one is the two year old.

Elijah: Poo on the window, sea gull did it
Jamie: Did a sea gull poo on the window?
Elijah: Yes, tiny little sea gull
Jamie: Sea gulls aren't tiny-they're bigger than birds.

Oh, and the story about the old man and the rocket up the butt-so so funny, I had to let my partner read it because I couldn't speak for laughing.
57  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Disappearing Dorm...Why me?! on: September 10, 2009, 04:08:58 pm
I'm not an expert but I've never experienced any problems with exiting/saving when the cheats are still activated.  So what exactly is happening?  Are you building then leaving the lot and the problem occurs on re-entry?  Is this the only lot that has been affected by this glitch?  I know both individual lots and places in the neighbourhood can get corrupted so that they become unusable, maybe this is a possibility.  As always best to test your game without any custom content to see if something in there is a problem.  It looks like you've used the remove all walls cheat, I take it you didn't at any point do that.  Sorry I can't be of any more help.
58  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: My cheap TV disappeared! on: September 10, 2009, 11:05:17 am
I would suggest that you've downloaded a TV that has overwritten the original, it's happened to me with a few items.  I suggest you take it all custom content out and try the game clean, the problem should disappear because you've a problem file somewhere in your downloads folder.  Because your problem is with a TV, put all your custom TVs in.  If the problem reappears then it's one of those TVs, then it's just a case of putting them in individually or using the 50/50 method to whittle it down to the specific problem file.
59  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: Invisible fridge on: September 09, 2009, 05:04:22 am
Yes, that's nice-I haven't come across it before, thanks for the link.  The thing is that this would look great in my merchant sims' homes, I'd like my peasants to have a bit mouldy bread and cheese on a shelf, or something.  There are a few old fashioned fridges/wooden recolours, but I'm such a fan of kitchen clutter on shelves and fridges are so imposing and unlike TVs and stuff you can't really do without them in an historic hood.
60  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Invisible fridge on: September 09, 2009, 03:36:58 am
Good morning all,

I'm constantly looking for work arounds for modern things in the game and I want to build a useable larder/pantry instead of using fridges.  I think the only way this is achievable is with an invisible fridge placed among the shelves of the larder or an object that can be placed on a shelf that functions as a fridge.  I know there are fridges available that are less modern such as the cellar fridge at MTS but it doesn't have baby bottle options.  I even pmed someone who mentioned an invisible fridge in an old post at MTS but they didn't have their downloads anymore and couldn't remember where they got it.  This gives me hope though, as it has obviously been created at some time.
So if anyone knows where I can get hold of an invisible fridge I would very much appreciate it.  I don't mind if the shelves are visible because I can hopefully hide them with my own shelving and I have all EPs.  Thank you all for your time.
