Title: Game crash. Post by: chilislavecutie on August 02, 2008, 05:03:35 pm I tried playing my game about three times today and all three times it crashed on startup.
I think it got as far as "Shampooing dirty rugs" and then it stopped. However, a box didn't actually pop up saying "application has crashed" until I pressed Ctrl+Alt+Del to close the game. I've read a few posts on here dealing with crashing problems, and a lot of the complaints said it only crashed when they downloaded custom content. I have plenty of CC and it has never caused my game to crash. Any ideas? Title: Game crash. Post by: EKozski on August 02, 2008, 05:05:34 pm Try deleting your groups.cache, accessories.cache files
Title: Game crash. Post by: Tenshii~Akari on August 02, 2008, 05:25:23 pm Custom content can go bad at any given time, so even if it has been faithful for you, the possibility that it is a custom download causing your crashing still exists. I suggest if you added anything since the last time you were able to play the game to take those downloads out and see if it runs. Possibly a bad/incompatible mesh that requires an EP/SP you don't have. ;)
Title: Game crash. Post by: chilislavecutie on August 02, 2008, 05:41:20 pm I did as EKozski suggested and deleted those files.
The game didn't crash, as in I didn't get up a pop up saying application has crashed. But after startup was almost complete, the game just, closed. No pop up or anything. And as for new CC, I haven't downloaded any new CC as of late. Title: Game crash. Post by: EKozski on August 02, 2008, 05:54:43 pm Try moving your downloads folder to your desktop and see if the game runs.
If it does, you have a bad download. They do go bad sometimes. Title: Game crash. Post by: chilislavecutie on August 02, 2008, 08:45:53 pm Thanks to the both of you!
It turns out that my memory is awful, and I did just recently download a living room set that apparently didn't agree with my game. Once I deleted it, the game started up fine. Again, thanks for your help. Title: Game crash. Post by: EKozski on August 02, 2008, 08:48:12 pm You're welcome. :)
