This may be a little dodgy to ask... but is anyone still playing Makin' Magic from sims 1 at this moment?
I need a few of the MP3s from that pack, but I dont really want to install everything just for that.

Ive been recolouring items/objects for some time now, yet cloning is still eluding me.
Using SimPe, I get to the stage to clone, and save a new file -  but those clones 'overwrite' the original content, instead of creating a separate catalog item. All the tutorials Ive found so far are outdated ones from 2005 etc, and no longer supported (and none explain what I want to know).

I have no intentions of creating new meshes for the game.  My idea is to take something like the giant TV that came with M&Gs or AL (dont remember), clone it, retexture it, and save it under a new name with a new price. Thats all. I still want the black original, only separate. There seems to be no tutorials that tell you how to make unique objects. Its all meshing or recolouring. And that doesnt help.

Could anyone help me with this?

Would it be possible to make a mod to stop roaches from spawning for whatever reason? Or even exterminate them upon arrival?
I have all the Eps & packs installed.

In specific the evil witch spell that creates them, and the trashcan being knocked over are MAJOR peeves.
My idea is to basically "remove them from the game", even tho I know thats impossible, the closest possible to that would be great.

Im looking for a mod that changes the silly spell names from AL into more descriptive names, so instead of 'aqua deletus' it would say 'delete puddles', 'tempus interruptus' -> 'freeze time', etc etc.

I came out of my Sims 2 remission to try my hand at the new textures from the upcoming Tomb Raider: Underworld.

The first of which are 3 sets of eyes.
* The Ori(ginal) package contains the base eye texture from Underworld,
* Flair is the UW eye, with a lens flare over it to make it more "realistic"
* Gray is just my personal project, overlapping the UW texture onto the existing Sims eye, resulting in this earthy grey.

These arent meant to be super realistic, so if thats what youre going for, you have been warned. They are just my personal tribute to TR:U.

So with the release of TS3 pending, Im sure plenty of you guys are foaming at the mouth with anticipation. This post will be about making an informed decision on whether you're really interested in this game, or just going along with it because its a new "evolution" of Sims. Or like me, not interested.

While my personal opinion is of great weight here, and the reason for posting here (I wont deny it), see this as your soap box too, by all means. Have your say.

First off, Ill start by showing a few screenshots of TS3, some you have probably seen.





Looks pretty doesn't it? Look at the guy painting...now look at the other two painting...isn't it awesome? They paint scenery. All new actions. The mind boggles. Oh wait...thats also available in TS2...? my bad...
And Dad's shave? amazing... must have been done with some serious waxing.
And whats that? new furniture? WOW!! look at that end table...the fence on the balcony...the little flowerpot, mom's hair...and little Timmy's stool! All new? This is amazing! Great job! Good show! Loving the palm trees too. Doesn't look anything at all like something we've seen before...



OMG. Look at the pretty painterly eyes on this chap. Its like...looking at a real person. I almost died. Right there. Its uncanny! Dead ringer for that guy in Shrek 1. Now if only they started mass producing this as a doll. Im sure barbie wont mind Boho-guy. He has painted on eyes...just like her. At least Mr Boho-Bellhop has some sizzling threads...and some narly eyebrows that redeem him.

Since this is a comparison I guess you wanna see what else I have on my mind. Some more screenie-goodness. Right ahead.

These are from Oblivion. As 1 or 2 people may or may not know that game has some similarities to The Sims, with some more action. Create a custom character ala The Sims, level up, survive. Want a new outfit? buy one. or kill someone and take the clothes off their backs. Build a relationship with someone high enough and they might just help you out. Buy a horse and wander endlessly through the countryside. Get into magics, and cast some pretty spells.
Okay, I hear you, enough Oblivion talk. Thats not the point. Look at these screenshots:







Cozy fireplace... nice looking chapel... and lush greenery.. Pretty. BUT...is it better than TS3 graphic wise? Keep in mind that this game was released in March 2006. Thats 2-3 years before TS3 is due. Now scroll up... look at the TS3 screenshots again. Compare.

Another one for good measure. Just...because. Its no secret that Im a HUGE Tomb Raider fan. Im even biased towards it. This is from the upcoming Tomb Raider: Underworld.



Look at the shadows...Teeth. Hair texture. Sweat. Skin Bump mapping. Compare the eyes to Boho-Bellhop's. This game is to be released mid->late November THIS year.

I used to be a firm believer in The Sims, and I justified and defended all the bugs, all the mediocrity. But The Sims 3? Not getting my vote. Not this time.
Im sorry. But do you need more proof?

Im not saying that you SHOULDN'T buy TS3, just think carefully about it. Are you really worth the sub-effort and mediocrity? Doesnt TS2 already afford you that? Keeping in mind that TS3 doesnt feature custom content by talented community members. Only stuff you'll get from the official website. And we ALL know how helpful and self-reflecting they are:

"I have a problem with my game crashing..."
RE: "Thread closed. The game is perfect. Its your PC."

Something thats always annoyed me with Sims is space... giant empty rooms with nothing inside. Building an amazing house is one thing, but furnishing it can get quite boring. After the 5 rooms, 3 bathrooms, 5 en-suite bathrooms, kitchen, diningroom, livingroom, TV room etc etc are done, there's usually still a piece of misc space left, usually a empty piece of useless space, with doors and windows... but ... there's no real solid thing you can put there!

What do u use to fill those odd, awkward, nothing-really-goes-there spaces?

I extracted the Pirate Captain that came with Bon Voyage, using SimPe, so i wont take any credit for this.

I just wanted him as a playable character in my game, and thought that maybe i can save someone else with similar ideas some time... so here he is

i did some facial sculpting on him, and added jewelry (come on...a pirate should have that), and since jewelry came with BV, you just need that EP for this download

I checked the file in Clean Installer, cleaned out everything, this is a EA-created-things only download.

As for the pics: I use default replacements, so he might not come out looking exactly like this, but you can customize him as you see fit.
Also not adding a string of pics, since people who'd like to get this download should already be familiar with the character imo.

File should work file installed into downloads folder, although i didnt test that, i usually put downloaded sims in the "saved sims" folder

Ive decided to start a kinda 'help' thread here regarding to FT...
I cant find any real info about how to do any of the 'special' interactions...

First off... the genie. How are we supposed to get the lamp? I know the cheat way...and i have materialized a lamp...(not that interesting), but how is it actually supposed to happen? Ive read that you need to max out some hobbies and aspirations for it to appear, and there is always a chance of you getting it randomly.  HAs anyone actually had the genie lamp appear the way it should have?

2nd) The badge skilling... what are the new badges brought in with FT? some kind of sewing badge that im still trying to get the bronze of, even after the 6th consecutive day of sewing oven mits... ? what else is there to get...? and what are the things you can actually make?

thats it for now... bu im sure there are more questions and similar unanswered and un-google-result-giving stuff people want to know...so feel free to post here? Or give some advice if you are in the know!

Im quite happy with how this outfit came out... so im sharing it. Hope everyone else likes it too...

Im not the best texture-er, and alpha-out-er... but still
Ive been looking for a Kaileena outfit since i played Warrior Within (PoP), but none of the ones i found online really did it for me..

So I bring you this  My vain 'I can do better' version (even if its not, lol)
The outfit comes packaged with a quickly put-together Kaileena sim too.

In the pictures she has "bon voyage" hair, but for this download i changed it to the black "layered" hair of the original game.
Also adding a pic of another sim that tried the outfit on... just to show how it looks on an "enhanced" non-barbie skin.

I will upload another version of this to the adult site... while i was testing this i realized that she wasn't wearing any underwear... and with a dress that has a few slips up 'to there' and sims not really minding flashing the world, i added underwear for her

So this is a the all ages version
If you prefer this dress...but with a more xxx flavour to it (think fantasy lingerie), do download it at insimadult.  It wont override this one. For clarity THIS dress is "KaileenaA" in the catalogue.

Hi there everyone,
So i was in the mood for a little creating tonight, and decided to try making another version of myself for the game.

This will also mark my first Sim-upload here, so *yay*.  I hope it all goes well.
The package contains all custom content mentioned in the breakdown, the hair in the pic is unfortunately a pay-hair, and you can get it at Raonsims (http://www.raonsims.com), pg.2, male hair 16.
Needless to say THE HAIR IS NOT INCLUDED.  Im sure the sim will display with a default hair instead.

Is it possible to extract only the buy/build mode objects and new bodyshop items from a new EP? Im just wondering...
Say for instance University... you'd want the objects that came with it... but dont care to actually ever send your sims away to "college"? and not particularly fond of the socials either.. would I be able to extract only what I want from any given EP?

Would anyone here be interested in me doing the "real-time" storyline of my neighborhood for everyone to read?  The idea would be that I go on playing all my current and new storylines, but instead of just doing it for myself, Id share it to become kind of a soap opera... ? You'd get to know new characters, see them die in horrific freak christmas-tree accidents, and wonder who's baby it is she's carrying...

Obviously if I do this it'll take up a fair amount of time.. so I just want to know if the interest is there?

My home PC has been infected with a (trojan horse) virus... Ironically the virus was attached to some anti-virus software!

So now Im slowly losing control of everything...yesterday my external harddrive stopped working... Im already unable to get into any documents...so yeah...virus.
Point is: "luckily" I made a backup of all my files I was interested in keeping (while I was still able to get into the harddrive)...two days ago...but my pc has already been infected then!  thus the "", since reloading my backups will probably also revive the virus...

Thats why Im actually posting here... maybe some brilliant mind can help me out... Im formatting everything tonight... but to reload my backed up files Ill need a good anti-virus program running to weed the virus out of the files... Does anyone know of a good freeware program that'll do that?  Im guessing one with a "quarantine zone" where I can drag all the files for checking before putting them back in place...

Any help = appreciated!

It comes down to a lack of love for the game.  Sure its a multi-million cashcow now... but I was thinking about it this weekend.... do you still get that anticipation feeling every time a new EP is released? No? well welcome to this thread.

When TS 1 was released I read all the reviews I could find...up to that point I never owned a "real" game...and was excited and it was a huge deal for me to finally find a game like this with all the possibilities it held... So I saved up and bought it...and my sister, mom and I were like monkeys sitting in front of the PC ...going "hey!! look what he's doing! He's still alive? oh look....he even goes to the bathroom..."
After that when the first ever ep (livin' large) was released I was ecstatic... I never anticipated it...so it was glorious... I begged everyone for it for my birthday...and even shivered when i installed it... (yes thats embarrassing I know... but there is a point...)

Well fastforward a few years... makin magic is out...everyone knows that TS2 is looming... but still the unbelievable fanbase this little game created was enough to make even that profitable.  It was fun and entertaining and original... I didn't even mind the bugs.  With all the minute details and extra thought that went into the series...or at least the first few EPs (for arguments sake) it seemed a great day when TS2 was out....BUT...

The developers have lost that magic the first one had.  There is no love for this game anymore.  The idea is there,,,and it works, but there's absolutely no feelings or familiarity towards it.  Think about TS1....quirky...fun... extraordinary... TS2: tries very hard... bugs all round...EA sells out... lies/cheats/steals/coverups... all the signs that TS2 has become more of a business tool than something for fun... were all just the idiots that slurp up the EPs in the hope that it'll be any good... and it never is that good... remember Livin Large? that EP had about as many new things as a TS2 stuff pack... but it satisfied enough people to spawn more EPs...and in the end another season of sims (TS2)...and riding on that even TS3!.

My point after it all is... do you still tingle at the thought of a new EP, or do you just think "oh that looks...okay"?  When you install the new Ep...do you shiver with excitement to see what they came up with? Or do you just worry that your hacks are not compatible and "damn this thing takes long to install"?

There's a major lack of personal interest and love and caring and general good will towards the new generation sims.  The business part has crushed the life out of it all.
